Hello Everybody,
I'm being released from the hospital today. They officially took me off of the solumederal and started me on 40 MG prednisone this morning. I'm hoping the pred works as well as the solumederal although I know it has many more side effects. I'll be seeing the GI on Wednesday again as well. He's going to start me on 6MP and Humira while tampering off of the pred. I'm coming for you UC, watch out.

That's great. I hope pred keeps you feeling good and that you're able to taper off quickly. What are you going to be using for maintenance when you're tapering off?

Haha, yes the pred is a crummy drug to be on, but it will work quickly and effectively on your UC symptoms. This is my third round of pred in a year, and I also just tried Imuran and am about to go on Remicade. (If you want to read about my experiences with these drugs, click on my link below.)

Hope the med works for you and that the other meds have you feeling better in no time. Yes...you definitely need the physical AND mental break!

Well, I'll continue on sulfasalazine while the 6MP and Humira start to kick in while I'm weaning off of the prednisone. I'm not going to lie, the pred is already making me emotionally crazy. I'm having mood swings like crazy. I hate it! However, if it's going to help me then I'm willing to live with that for a while. I'm just ready for a darn break. Thank you guys so much for being there virtually for me. It's always nice to talk to people. Also my mother was there with me in the hospital every single day and I am so grateful for her. I'll keep you guys updated. I'm almost at 300 posts! yay!

Congrats on getting sprung from the hospital! Take it easy-- even if Pred makes you feel hyper. Don't consume heavy salt-- it can add to fluid retention while on Pred. Good luck with your transition & keep us posted as time permits. / Old Hat (31 yrs with left-sided UC; presently in remission taking brandname Colazal)

Glad you are out of hospital! I went through same thing in November. I came home on 40 mg pred and started remicade a few weeks later.
