I wouldn't classify that as high blood pressure at all! I would love my blood pressure to read as yours..lol. What is your age? I worked for an Internist for many years and he was never alarmed unless the lower reading (I think that is the diastolic...was higher than 90). He told me the higher reading often correlates with the person's age...i.e. a 60 yr old as being 160. However, we learned in modern times this is NOT acceptable and my family doctor prefers the systolic pressure to be 140 or lower and I am 65 yrs old.
When on prednisone my blood pressure was uncontrollable and I was taking three different blood pressure meds at the same time. It is a wonder I never stroked out with readings of 216/110. Up until I went through menopause, my blood pressure was always 105/66! After menopause it skyrocketed for some reason or other and then the prednisone just knocked it way out of the ballpark. Ironically, the only time I suffered with headache was when it reached 220/116.
Thankfully, I have been off prednisone since my operation a year and a half ago and my blood pressure is controlled by 1 pill a day. It often reads 140/80 and the doctor is fine with that reading.
