I can't achieve remission!!!! I am now over the 1 year point in my flare.  I just called my GI and now was given this antibiotic.  Has anyone else taken this?

Yes my daughter tried this. It stopped her bleeding but didn't do too much for frequency, consistency of stool. Bleeding stopped almost immediately.

I took it and it didn't help. Apparently there is a study that showed improvement in some IBD-ers which is why GI's try it on us. Good luck, I remember it was horribly expensive too (of course if it worked it'd be worth the price).

Don't know if xifaxan works but apparently some other antibiotics have worked for some.

I tried it and I don't think I improved but I also didn't get worse. I tried cipro/flagyl and a course of xifaxan afterwards. I did end up getting into remission but I am pretty sure my remission was due to 6mp and reduced anxiety and not due to the antibiotics. I wish I had responded better to the antibiotics.

Thanks everyone - I decided to start the 10 day Rx. Not seeing much difference yet but who knows.
