Donation ideas?

Me too! I will be watching this post for the suggestions. I like giving as close to the source with as little lost to overhead expenses as possible, grassroots as it were, with appropriate financial monitoring and oversight.

Thanks for the responses. fruitgirl, I'm not disciplined enough to put the money aside, we always find a need for it, so it has to be set up to go out of our account monthly or it won't get done unfortunately. I've spoken to several researchers about this as you suggested but for the reasons you've suggested they can't accept the money (unless it's a large donation to the institution they're at marked for their research I guess?)
This is something I've been wanting to do for a long time but just don't know how to go about doing unfortunately.

What a fabulous idea! I think fruitgirl has the best idea (to contact a researcher). You could also contact any of the doctors who are doing FTs or any practitioners who are using dietary protocols (successfully)

sorry to be a downer. But in my opinion, don't donate anything.
Don't get me wrong charity has great intentions. But these organizations
are all muppets. The chrohns/colitis foundation in Canada hasn't even heard of a fecal
transplant. Complete embarrassment. This money will find its way to the drug companies
eventually after its been filtered like crazy. And they will ignore FT for sure.

FT is the future. Researchers in this country have blown there shot at getting a penny from me.
They have accomplished nothing.

Personally I think the best way to help is for someone to set up some kinda of donor pool for FT.
I'd offer money to the person who could set that up. That would be argueably infinitly more useful
than donating to doctors.

Doctors have failed miserably. That not 1 GI figured out what Borody did is disgraceful. The literature
on FT goes way back and has been used in animals for hundreds of years. I refuse to give money to
people who have already failed us.

Again the idea of charity is noble. So I am not trying to suggest that donating to charity is bad.
I just think the money could be used smarter & better.

Tankor, I think that was killcolitis' point not to donate to CCFC probably for the same reasons you mention.

It's a great idea donating to someone independent from Big Pharma who is researching things like FT and anti MAP. I could only think of someone like Dr Mark Davis in Oregon who is a Naturopath Dr who hold clinics to do FT on patients but I don't know how much research he is doing or follow up consultations.

Maybe if we get enough people on HW trying FT we can start our own research, develop a protocol, track results, etc. That could be exciting and fun!

This is getting interesting - yes if anyone wants to get together and make a joint donation that might work for us. Or if anyone knows of anyone?
I don't want this to turn into a CCFA bashing thread because there are people who sincerely fund raise for them and I appreciate that. I just don't believe that they're interested in funding/finding a cure for these diseases. Yes, great new meds have been developed but when I'm on their site it seems like a product placement ad for infliximab. And they don't disclose who their corporate funders are. And they warn people about trying things like the SCD and advise them to speak to their docs first, knowing that docs know nothing about diet and even if they did couldn't recommend it because there's no research to back it up. It's really their job to be funding this type of thing but yet they've not bothered. I spoke to a doc from Standford recently and he advised we try the SCD (which we already have) - he said they're seeing incredible results for CD with SCD and mixed for UC. They knew in the 20s that this diet worked and that these diseases were caused in part by bacteria in the gut - if this had been researched between then and now we'd either have a cure or be well on our way. And, they are not funding any research using abx, no LDN studies, nothing about FT. It just doesn't seem like they are interested in funding any non pharmaceutical-based research or finding anything remotely curative.
Anyway, there's promising research being done and I would love to be able to contribute to it in the hopes that in the next few years they are able to crack this thing.

I agree with Killcolitis that there is really no effort toward funding/finding a cure for chronic diseases.
As far as donating......IMO, we who have chronic conditions will be better served by saving our money in a "medical expense" fund.

IMO, those of us who live in countries where medical treatment is a profit-making business, will be paying a larger share of expenses in the future.

At 70 yrs of age, I am on Medicare (U.S.) and find that my expenses are increasing even with a secondary insurance provider, despite paying higher premiums for both.
Some insurers are also refusing to pay for meds like LDN and for probiotics like VSL#3 (categorized as medical foods).
Costs for those are not even applied to my deductibles.

Costs for office visits and surgeries including colonoscopies are sky-rocketing and Medicare is reducing approved payment levels.
Many providers are unhappy about this and may refuse medicare patients.
Since I now expect to have colonoscopies every 9-12 months, I will be paying a lot more out-of-pocket.

I don't see any improvement in the situation because there is so much resistance to (and political lobbying against) a National Healthcare program.

I guess if we had universal health care in the US, like many other countries, there wouldn't be as many bankruptcies due to medical bills.

Thank you for "pushing" me, that's exactly what I needed.
I finally put my money where my mouth is and signed up to get certified training to get people registered to vote in Florida!

I am so sick and tired of the voter suppression.
So, I've decided to get involved - so I'll be spending a lot of time doing my part.
