Thank you prednisone for these twenty extra pounds. 

Thanks to you, I have had to buy all new summer clothes as hardly a thing in my closet fits me! I have had to buy new shirts, shorts, capris, jeans, bras, underwear, and just today....a swimsuit.  Trust me, prednisone. It was a little bit fun shopping for and having an excuse to buy new clothes. But I draw the line at callling swimsuit shopping 'fun.'  Prednisone, these extra rolls, lumps and bumps, all thanks to you, look much better with clothing covering them. Trust me.

Oh, and prednisone, thanks for those two wiry hairs growing out of my chin. I can only suppose I have you to thank for them, as well.  As if shaking, night sweats, and a racing heart weren't enough. You are truly the gift that keeps on giving.

Yep been there done that. Now I'm having to buy new clothes for the weight I have lost. Bathing suit shopping was the worst. Its the worst when your weight is ok which mine isn't yet. Hate pred.

Oh yes! I just did the same kind of shopping. I am trying to survive by living in my black leggings but thinking I may have to expand the waredrobe just a tad :)

oh yeah. pred is definitely the worse!! i remember i went into the hospital last year at 90 lbs and left 7 days later at 127 lbs... all thanks to prednisone! my mom had to cut one of my shirts off in the hospital because the weight came on so quickly. also, all my bracelets had to be cut off because they were cutting off my circulation :( i had worn these bracelets for years so i was really sad about that.

it's definiltey a drug i will never take again! i threw out my extra prednisone pills because i knew i'd never put that stuff in my body.

Well I cant thank prednisone for weight gain because I didn't take it long enough, only about ten days. However, I can thank you for the heightened state of anxiety I've been in for the three months since I stopped taking it. I have a long history of bipolar, and the pred seemed to tweek my nerves out big time. From what I've since read, I should never have been given pred in the first place. I should have known the doctor wasn't reading my chart when she asked me, "what did we do your colonoscopy for"? rolleyes So, to wrap up, thank you pred for making me a nervous wreck, giving me a lovely intermittent racing heart, and lets not forget about the insomnia. Yeah Prednisone, NOT!!!

And six years later, thanks, Pred, for the osteonecrosis in my shoulder that ached all the time until I had surgery. Now it only aches part of the time.

I don't like taking cortisone neither.

It makes me moody and very aggressive. Of course this is not very well tolerated by others.

I also got bone pain in my whole body and sensitive teeth. Not to mention the moon face and the acne...

All in all I don't want to take cortisone anymore :(

Moody? PREDNISONE DOES NOT MAKE ME MOODY! Ok, I can add that to this list of side effecs, LOL.

Joanna I can't believe you gained that much weight, and even more I can't believe your mom had to cut off your shirt. Goodness!

ohcrap, yeah it was crazy! luckily, as soon as i tapered to 35 mg, i dropped down to 90 lbs again in 2 days. it was all water weight. i still have all the stretch marks though because my skin had to expand so quickly.

     Count your blessings.  I would gladly take those extra twenty pounds in exchange for the osteoporosis I will forever suffer with.   Not to mention, while on the prednisone I had uncontrollable high blood pressure and type 2 diabetes rolleyes .  Had surgery in 2010 and been off the prednisone since then.  My blood pressure is now easily controlled with only 1 pill a day and I no longer have diabetes, but will forever have bad bones.  I already have three back fractures and thought my hip was fractured the other week.  The MRI showed "significant" arthritis in the hip.  I suppose the prednisone helped developing the arthritis too.  UGH!!!

Yes, I would gladly take the twenty pounds instead of arthritis and other joint issues, definitely! I hope that is not in my future. To be honest, all my life I've been thin. I don't truly mind gaining a little bit of weight. I just don't like how suddenly it appeared, and that it's all lumpy and bumpy. This is my second 6 week stint on pred. I know I'll probably loose a little of this weight, but last time I kept about half of the pred weight.

I was like 2 sizes bigger aftre being on pred. I am just finaly getting back to normal and I am still not at my goal weight. I never had a weight issue in my life, now I know how difficult it is to struggle with weight. :(

I am sorry you're dealing with this. I hope you're feeling back to normal soon.

Thanks prednisone for making those few strands of grey hair fall out....along with the huge chunks of long, shiny black ones too.
