Any UCer's battle C Diff too, any remedies?

Yep. I suffered from a C. diff infection for something like 3 months as I basically withered away (I had a very bad GI doctor). I took one round of vancomycin but it didn't kill it off. I was hospitalized mid-June where I was given more antibiotics, plus a 2 week round of vanco after I got out, which finally seems to have done it in. The problem is that it creates spores which can lead to recolonization, so one round of antibiotics doesn't always do the trick.

Kloe- that's my next thing if it doesn't work. Codfish- same I am on vanco for a month on a taper now. Previous antibiotics did nothing it came right back!

C.diff is how all of my colitis issues first presented themselves. I had two bouts of cdiff, 11 or 12months apart . I had been taking an antibiotic for a sinus infection before I developed the first episode of c.diff. Just like my colitis, with the c.diff I'm probably the only one who didn't get diarrhea. My body apparently likes to do things differently. I took flagyl both times and the meds made me feel worse than the c.diff. I started taking probiotics from that point on and never stopped, for fear I could develop c.diff again.

It wasn't until 2 years later that I developed symptoms again and swore it was another case of c.diff. My stool test came back negative and my colonoscopy showed proctitis(ulcerative colitis).

Chrissy72, that's kind of weird, because everything for me started with a bad sinus infection earlier this year (104 fever kind of bad). After that I started with D, then finally got a stool test which showed the C. diff. But I only got one antibiotics shot, which doesn't seem like enough to nuke my system, but I guess it did when combined with a pretty stressful period of my life when I wasn't taking care of myself like I should have been (not getting enough sleep, etc.).
