Has anyone had an antidepressant cause a flare or period trouble?

I started Celexa 10 mg and it made me have a period 2 weeks early and it didn't end till I stopped the medication. Then I started Zoloft 50mg and it made me start flaring....... Trying Lexapro now and 8 days in so far so good. Any one else have adverse reactions to meds? I have steered clear of all prescription meds since developing UC except one round of antibiotics when I got seriously ill and of course UC meds and now I am trying to introduce new medications and am hoping that the first 2 were just a fluke...???.... Also starting prescription birth control pill and praying it doesn't affect me weird!

I was on Pristiq and I felt like it helped my UC to improve. I stopped it a few months ago and I haven't had any issues with flaring really. I don't notice a difference in my period. I take Cerazette and I don't get one at all. It's wonderful!

I have taken Cymbalta, lexapro, and vybrid. I do not take any AD meds now tho.
Lexapro worked the best for me but they all eventually made me a hermit. Cymbalta was the only one that caused flares

Are you sure you were flaring? Some anti-depressants can cause diarrhea- not because of inflammation but by increasing bowel motility.

Yes, kloe, I'm sure....mucus.....and now that ive started lexapro, 13 days in, more mucus. took about 3 weeks with the zoloft. im going to treat it and continue lexapro in hopes my body will adjust and not reflare when i taper off pred. ugh! this stinks!

Actually, kloe, when i first begin to flare i get constipated from the inflammation. I have gotten constipated with all of the SSRIs and needed to use laxatives. so no poo, just mucus equals definite flare. i have wondered if the stimulant from the laxative may have started the inflammation though????? either way, the meds make me constipated and flare no matter which order it happens in. only hope my body can adjust. anyone with experience or knowledge on people with uc adjusting to meds?
