What really has shocked me are the cases of women getting diagnosed with UC during pregnancy or shortly after childbirth. No one ever talked or wrote about these situations until fairly recently, but judging from forum posts, they also seem to be on the increase. / Old Hat (31 yrs with left-sided UC; presently in remission taking brandname Colazal)
Absolutely the last thing i imagined would happen to me after giving birth was uc; heck at the time i hadn't even known what it was!
I was busy buying baby clothes, preparing and decorating the nursery, reading books about
how to sooth babies and understand their language...i was in such a happy little world.
Now: everyday i writhe in agony when i have a BM, as if my insides are being scratched with razor blades. My son is 16 months and spends most of his time with a baby sitter as iam too weak to look after him...i remember in that short 6 month remission last year i used to take him out for walks, read him stories, lie down together under the sun and play.
Now i can only remember those happy memories and pray that one day i'll be able to do what i love again.
