Movi Prep

As I have nothing else to do except to wait for the inevitable, I decided to open a thread about MoviPrep. I am having a colonoscopy performed tomorrow for some bowel issues I have been having, nothing conclusive diagnosed as of yet.

To be honest I have been very very apprehensive about the whole procedure, not just the colonoscopy but other tests I had to have done. I had to submit 8 stool samples a few weeks ago and that was DISGUSTING, I hope I never have to do that again.

Over the last few weeks I have been obsessively reading about the prep for the colonscopy as well as the colonoscopy itself and I have been absolutely terrified about the split stage MoviPrep I was prescribed. I have read that people gag and even vomit from the taste, I have been a nervous wreck for weeks. I prepared my liter bottle this morning, popped it in the fridge went to work and came home. All day I have been in the mindset of "come home, chuck as much as I can, take a break, chug more, take a break etc until the bottle is done.

Well I came home and with a straw I drank my first glass, must to my surprise it did not taste all that bad, I actually worried for about 15 minutes that I did something wrong, that somehow I messed it up, I did not use any additives or anything like that. I only have about 8 oz left and kind of confused but happy that it went down easily enough for me.

I know now that I prepared it correctly because I can feel the bowel start to "react", no BM yet but I can tell I am close (sorry for the graphic nature of this, but we all know what it is at stake here).

Anyway I will post here through the entire experience, I am sure the actual evacuation process, once it starts, I will not be as gleeful but the consuming of the liquid was not terrible.

I have been worried sick for weeks about drinking this thing and so far it has been fine, no problem with foul taste, gagging etc, all I have read, and I have read a lot, was that the consumption was horrendous and all sorts of bad things would happen to me as I try force it down my throat. I am sure my tone will change once it truly kicks in.

I wish I had of come across a "not so terrifying" review of MoviPrep prior to today, maybe I would not have been so stressed for so many weeks.

I feel as if there is a big pile of jello in my stomach right now and I feel bloated, obviously this is the MoviPrep, as I have not had anything to eat in 18 hours. Will keep you posted on the progress of my MoviPrep consumption and subsequent evacuation.

Maybe someone in the future will come across this and some of their worries about the prep will be alleviated.

Yuck! That's the only prep my GI will use. For every glass I chased it with green jello. Needed to get that taste out of my mouth. Good luck with your procedure.

I think my biggest issue with the movi prep is that I just have a hard time drinking that much liquid in such a short time. I can't even drink yummy things that quickly. I didn't think it tasted great but not god awful. I couldn't drink all of the first batch but managed to get the second batch all down the next morning.

Thank heavens, I have had an ok time of it, I drank the liter almost all at once, I did not realize you were supposed to do it in four drinks over the period of one hour. I will remember for the morning dose, around 4.00AM for me as my procedure is at 9.00AM, they told me 4 hours in advance but I feel more comfortable with 5, I really don't want to be in a car in traffic and have a BM urge.

Tonight I started at 5PM, I drank a tremendous amount of water all day, during and after Movi Prep, water is forbidden after midnight so I am stocking up although I am urinating quite frequently. BM stopped around 8.30PM and the last 2 or 3 evacuations were exactly as described in the doctors pamphlet, yellow water, so I guess I did it correctly.

Keep in mind, and I believe this helped me a lot, I adhered to the low fiber, low residue diet quiet strictly the last few days, which was weird because we are always told to eat lots of veggies, fruits and whole grain, anyway I had the opportunity to eat white rice, white pasta and even a slice of white bread, was a temporary heaven.

For all those facing the procedure and are reading horror stories, don't assume it will be the same for you, with a little planning ahead of time it should be perfectly fine albeit annoying and restrictive in terms of your mobility.

Am off to bed for a few hours rest (hopefully)

hi i was told i could drink up to 4hrs b4 the test. just wanted to add that. water wont obstruct their viewing during the scope. as long as there is no solids just.

Are you passing this dose of the prep?

You know i went through all that prep too and when i went in it turned out i didnt need it. they said they werent doing the whole bowel just the left side!!!!!

The prep i used was citra fleet. I found it fine to drink, but it heats up in the glass so it feels too chemical.
I also made the mistake of eating what i wanted instead of lightly and low residue, so there was ALOT to come out. amazing seeing i was going upto 14 times a day on my own.

I hit the toilet at least 30 times during the prep.

felt really light and cleaned out after.

Also you dont have to take the sedation. i didnt. They can always put it in after a while if you find it too difficult.
It feels a bit uncomfortable, just like you need to pass gas. but afterwards you can eat straight away and get dressed and talk to the doc with your memory intact.

oh anxious, i was too, hate the thought of some1 seeing my bum. i got a pair of shorts the last time that open just at the "crack".

It'll will get easier.
