Anyone with UC and Psoriasis??

I do not frequent the forum unless I have a question, so it's been awhile. For the most part I try and forget that I have UC and that includes not reading about it on the forum every day.

My question: I have recently developed Psoriasis on my scalp...I think....I have a Dr. appt next week to have a look at it. But, from my own self diagnosis via the internet, it sure sounds like a mild case of scalp psoriasis. So my question is, does anyone out there with UC also have Psoriasis? Did it develop later on? Or because of a medication? I believe I have read that it is also an autoimmune disease?

I have been on Humira for the past 6 months, switching from Remicade which wasn't working as good as it use to. I know Humira is suppose to treat psoriasis so this boggles me. But, I also read that Humira can cause psoriasis?

Anyone else out there in a similar situation??

If you read the list of side-effects from humira one is "new or worsening psoriasis." I actually developed some mild "psoriasis-like" patches while on humira. I treated them with coal-tar shampoo and moisturizers which did the trick but after going off humira they went away all together.

In general psoriasis is an autoimmune condition and definitely related to UC. It's weird that the TNF drugs used to treat psoriasis can also cause them. Another note - my dermatologist didn't want me to stop taking humira as long as it was controlling my UC

I've had this for at least 15 years, way before the UC. I'm able to keep it mostly under control with Tar shampoo daily. If I use anything else it flares up for a few days. I still color my hair, but know that I will have some itching afterwards.

I developed psoriasis due to remicade infusions. It started as patches and got increasingly worse and then moved onto my scalp. I have now continued to have scalp psoriasis since '09. My hair is now so thin I can only wear it up, and must wear think hair bands. I am actually considering wearing a wig. I have tried all topical and oral medications and these seem to only work in short burst and my psoriasis is incredibly think that as it flakes off my scalp large clumps of hair come with it (where there is some left.) My GI and dermo have the hopes that the remicade will start treating the psoriasis, as it is also used for psoriasis treatment, but it seems to only for the first week after infusions and then it is back in full force! Has anyone had any luck with topical treatments beside the shampoos? The only thing that seems to work for more than a week or two is pred. injections. Any words of wisdom or advice is much appreciated. Or should I just suck it up and go back to the oral meds I have been off of since '09? pros & cons?
