I have not worked in a great number of years due to my Uc. I've been fortunate to have a husband that makes good money with great benefits so I didn't have to work if I didn't want to. So because I have been bored, children are older now (21 and 17), I've been doing great Uc wise; I thought it was time to get out.

I am a bit nervous to be honest! I was schooled to be a payroll accountant but I don't want to get into that again so I am looking for a "fluff" part time job. So I applied at Macy's and I have an interview next Wednesday. It's for the beauty counter.

Yay! Hope you get it and really enjoy it!
My pre-kid "fluff" job was at hallmark where the manager was a very good friend of mine. Even though the Christmas season was a little crazy it was super fun.
So glad your UC is behaving!!

Yay Sherri....hope you get the position! I worked in cosmetics in the early '80s...loved it!

That would really be cool if you take the job & get discounts on good stuff. While I was a schoolkid an aunt of mine worked in cosmetics at the SF Macy's & sent me nifty lipstick & perfume samples every so often. Just the other day I was thinking about a frosted apricot lipstick she had sent when I turned 14; it was pretty much my all-time favorite shade! Good luck with the interview. / Old Hat (31 yrs with left-sided UC; presently in remission taking brandname Colazal)

Oooh that would be such a fun job!!! :) Good luck!!! I've always found that when I wear something bright & happy to an interview rather than traditional black & white it's always gone well...

Allswell, I thought about that. Working with children, but I don't feel I would have the patience at this point. I'm past my "younger" child days.

     Good luck Sherry!!!  I was also fortunate enough to stay home while raising our daughters.  I am a lab tech, so was able to work for our family doctor a few nights a week while hubby was home with girls.  I didn't want to lose my touch..lol.  When I developed UP I was 52 yrs old and out of the work force for a few years due to ailing parents (I was an only child) who both passed away within 11 months of each other.  Dad passed in April of 95 and mom in March 96.  I didn't get UP until Sept of 98.

     I really don't know how the people suffering with this disease can hold down full time jobs.  It must be HORRIBLE!!

I hope it works out for you, not something I can do again. I worked in retail for 6 years and it made my UC difficult to work with, especially during the holiday season. I would often have to upset a customer to go to the bathroom, as there is no way I can hold it long enough to finish a transaction. Not to mention the bathroom was on the other side of the store and it was a pretty big store.

Thanks everyone! :) I went out shopping today and got some dress clothes. All I have in my arsenal are tank tops and yoga pants lol
