The left-side pain for me begins with a pain on a scale of 1 - 10, about
a 3, which is a stabbing pain and often spasms. As my flare continues, the LS pain gets nearly unbearable about
an 8. The burning in the rectal area gets pretty bad, too. I usually run a fever and have rigors (bad chills). After about
the 7th or 8th visit, as mucus and some blood begins to flow - splattered looking, the pain decreases to a 6 - 7 or so and after several hours, it decreases to about
a 2. I usually awaken with a 2 - 3 left-sided pain practically daily. But my BM's only occur 1 - 2 times each week; when they begin, I go through the same cycle. I do have lower back pain, mostly on the left side. Occasionally, I get pain elsewhere, for instance, the right back which is only short-lived.
On a different note, I recently began the slippery elm powder, cats claw tea with coconut oil added. I watched some lady nutritionist's video about smoothies with ground flax seed in almond milk with fruit. Tried those, too. I was amazed that ONE DAY - only one - but that's a start, I actually had formed stools! Normal stools with little pain. Just hoping that as my diet is more paleo and with the herbal supplements, that this one day joy will increase!
