I currently take 30 mg of prednisone...however my original script was for 20mg. My GI said to take 30 if needed and i have. Its getting close to get a refill, have about a week left. The problem i know i will have is that my pharmacy wont refill because it is too soon. The threshold for a refill based off the 20 mg dosage. How can i get my refill without risking missing a dose (s)? Sorry for the silly question, but thanks to UC this the first time im dealing with prescriptions.

Your doctor has to change the script or write a new one, he has to talk to the pharmacy. I've been through this before.

I would just have the doc call in a brand new prescription.

New RX will do the trick. That said, I (as a precaution) have a stockpile of Prednisone just in case...

Thanks for the replies, i'll make the call tomorrow.. @Mammatus how do you stockpile your pred? Seems to be the only med that works for me so i would like to do the same.

The last time I needed prednisone I was in a similar situation to you, and I ended up just paying out of pocket for it. It was less than $10 because it was on the stores $4 or $8 prescription list, which is a bit ironic because that's less than the $10 copay I usually pay!

I just keep all my extra Prednisone after I taper off. I've been on several rounds of prednisone use and they all started at high does and tapered off. In addition, each prescritption I've had had refills, which I obtained.
