nightside of eden,
My GI gives me scripts for Lomotil all the time, he has no issues with prescribing it. Its my family doctor or nurse that hesitates on giving me extra repeats. The thing is the family doctor has no real knowledge about colitis so doesnt really understand that this is a lifesaver for me.
I use lomotil and have for years and it works great especially if your going on a plane. For me I usually take one tablet after my morning BM"S and i am great for the rest of the day. I have on occasion especially if going on a plane have taken a second one and i have never had any issues with urgency on flight. They do take about 45min to really start working.
I also try to reserve an isle seat and usually close to the bathrooms on a plane. I will study the plane seating online before I reserve my seat. Some airlines like Southwest wont reserve any seats its first check in first in line for boarding. So in that case I learned to check in online before everyone else does it cost me $10 but well worth it I have my choice of seating.
I try to pack my own snacks and buy a bottle of water at the gate before getting on the plane. I have eaten airplane food and feel bloated and gassy after so I have learned to go hungry or bring something aboard.
If the airplane is equiped with your own tv screen great it keeps your mind off your stomach, if its not bring a movie player, ipod or something to keep you busy or sleep.
I have on one trip wore a diaper because it was an 8hr flight and I was so nervous but never did need to use it thank God!
