Yeah that's pretty much it. But really, it won't take much to take offense when you have a different point of view than someone else. I don't think this guy, (Im Cured), said anything offensive in his original thread nor in this one.

Can you please change your signature and instead of "cured" say "in remission"? Newbies might be very confused when they read it.

I see no reason for anyone to change their signature to appease people who are diehard pessimists.

I refuse to accept the assumption that UC cannot be "cured".
It would be terrible to live without hope.

People have experienced cures for diseases such as cancer that were considered "terminal" by the medical establishment.

so marianne, are you saying that you believing your dr's opinion led you to your decision ?

I have 2 year great remissions where I think I am cured and then it happens again.

That guy is the biggest scammer, his degrees are bogus and his products never did a single thing for me.

My experience with my son,failed all rescue meds.,colon removed. He has 1/2 inch rectal cuff, can get cuffitis,but not
bothering him. He had it once or twice years ago,you would be surprised how bad a 1/2 inch of cuffitis can get.
My own experience 32 years, note cured yet.
That being said,no cure for UC could be medical dogma,don't really know,many peoples experience here
indicates that it is true.
Then again,once the immune cells are primed they may never forget,which might be the cause of no cure.
Then again,if it is possible to stop bacterial and endotoxin translocation into and through the intestine wall we might get somewhere.
Current theory many doc's believe that the body is reacting to commensal bacteria, also there is evidence that the bacteria are
not normal in type and distribution. Another theory is that iron eating bacteria out compete the normal bacteria,so when you bleed
the bad guys are taking over.
There are a million theories,they all may have something to do with UC,everything may depend on an intact mucus barrier,and minimal
bacterial and endotoxin translocation. Can this be fixed,it must be difficult,been trying for 32 years.

I'm sad for the young people who appear to have given up hope of a cure.
I'm not thrilled with ByeByeUC's implication that I'm unrealistic. I'll be 70 this month and have lived through enough to be fairly pragmatic. Along the way, I've learned to believe that there's a strong mind/body connection so choose to maintain a positive attitude.

I just reserved a couple of books by Jordan Rubin from my public library...."The Maker's Diet" and "Restoring Your Digestive Health....".
Always interested in increasing the knowledge base.

Just wanted to say that everyone should be able to post their stories of healing without being brushed off as evangelical or scammers or whatever.
That said; im skeptical that a certain diet or way of healing works for everyone.

This one is LOL. Basically, what it is saying is:

Healing with natural products/diets, allows us to heal without the side effects from healing with meds.

I won't quibble "cure" or indefinite "remission". At some point is it semantics. I have posted before on how it can be a matter of semantics. The word "cure" seems to bother some here much more than it bothers me.

I have no problem with various opinions, or folks who feel a particular modality (e.g., gut bacteria, allergens, stem cells ... etc) because that's where they think the main issue is. I have noted the direct and indirect benefits of diet in the etiology and maintence of UC. This also includes the limitations of diet and the interplay of genetic and epigenetic and non-diet environmental factors. Any intelligent person that has read my postings knows I have a very broad and open view regarding the causes and treatment of UC - but I do hold the feet to the fire so to say and look for the logic and I weight the evidence and I see to see how one bit of knowledge or speculation fits (or contradicts) other pieces of information.

My objection is to someone trolling for trouble. Someone making choices that provoke confrontation, and self-defeat the ideas they want to share. My very strong objection is some zealot who declares that something worked for them and it will work for everybody. That is plain wrong and it make me angry.

@Stereo, I think it is hostile to selectively twist someone's words. You have no basis to say I was putting down faith. But logic has never been important to you, and you biases were very clear from you 1st posting. I feel sorry for you - not because you have UC, but because it is sad to see someone going through life without the ability to think critically. In context it is clear that in the example I gave about "Jesus", that is was not faith or optimism or positive thinking that I was opposed to - but the subsequent insistence that "it" WOULD work for ANYONE else. This zealous insistence that something not only works but will work for everybody is not only unscientific and unsupported, but it is a violent act that then makes anyone still sick somehow responsible for still being sick. When you find this kind of charlatan, this kind of monster doing violence to sick and sometimes vulnerable people, you need to name it and denounce it.

Anyone who looks at this thread and concludes that I'm against "opinions", or against "optimism", or fails to see that it was the evangelical element I was denouncing ... well such people need to get a another brain cell and rub it vigorously against the few they are currently using.
