hello guys -- so i seem to get a flare-up every year between september-december. at the peak i'll probably be going about
5 times a day. as far as blood i get some drippage along with mucus loogies. other than that i feel fine. is there a point to when something like prednisone should be initiated? i'm on lialda and use canasa nightly. should i just let it run its course until winter is over? thanks for your time and help!

just deal with it - imo, it's not enough of an issue to justify getting involved with the devil -

thanks soystud. i will continue to make my girlfriend laugh throughout the season with my loud mucus farts. she isn't laughing at my disease, just the sounds of it.

I concur. Since you have a history with this thing I wouldn't do the evil drug unless you really felt it was necessary.

thanks gary. yeah i suppose if it gets any worse or lasts beyond winter than i'll pay a visit to the GI for further consult. i know they're the experts but also that there are lots of real world experts on here. thanks guys!

oh no that sig is old. no it didn't hurt. GI doc considered it a DALM since it was a polyp in an area of active inflammation. guideline for that is to remove colon because of a possibility of underlying cancer. i did some further research which show that it is reasonable to forgo that guideline as long as the polyp is removed in its entirety, there's no evidence of dysplasia around the polyp site, and no dysplasia throughout the rest of the colon. so i had surveillance c-scopes with biopsies every three months x2 than six months x2. my next one is due in june. so far so good!

Strong suggestion that I'm sure you've never heard from me in the past ;-)....ask the doc for retention enemas and use the supps during the day/
Have you missed any of your Lialda dosages? How much are you using?
Are you taking any probiotics?

Absolutely try mesalamine enemas before using oral pred. And if that doesn't work, try steroid enemas before oral pred.

haven't missed any Lialda dosages, doing 4 pills a day which i think is 2.4g. not taking any probiotics although i try to drink dairy kefir. i've got some rowasa that i've kept tucked away that i'll start using and save the canasa for the day. also started turmeric force pills and upped my vitamin D to 4000 IU/day. tried steroid enemas before but they always seemed to make the bleeding worse. thanks for your help everybody!
