I just had mine yesterday, been going for over a year. I was a bit nervous intially too, drink plenty of water before you go, you need to be hydrated. Ask about
taking tylenol and benadryl prior to, they give it to me right before my infusion. The nurses are fantastic, they take such good care of me and they watch for any signs that anything can happen, they give you the dose slowly and then increase it as time goes on to make sure you are ok, they take your temp and blood pressure every 15 minutes and knowing it is your first time they will check even more to see how you are.
Yesterday at my infusion, I just had a regular itch on my shoulder and they noticed and asked if I was ok and how I felt etc. I was also a bit dehydrated, I had two long flights this week and did not drink enough water, so my temp went up during the infusion as a result and they had me drink a lot of water during and did not increase my dose for a 1/2 hour to make sure my temp went and was staying down.
They give me warm blankets and have movies and I usually have to get up and pee a couple of times. When the nurse was going to put the iv in my right arm I asked for my left and when she asked if my right arm was ok, I explained that it was easier getting my pants up and down to use the restroom with my right ; ) they got a good chuckle out of that one
