Colds and azathioprine

I've been on azathioprine for 3 weeks and my flare has gone away. Woke up this morning with a scratchy throat and I'm worried about getting a cold. Just wondering if regular over the counter meds would help or will I need to get something stronger. Hopefully it will not turn into anything bad. Thanks

I've been on az for almost a year and was PARANOID about being around sick people (I'm also on Remicade)

I'm happy to report that I've only had one cold all year, and survived it just fine. I have 2 school aged kids, so germs are a common thing.

I do supplement with Vitacraves gummies with immune support. Don't know if they help, but my Dr ok'd them.

Just remember not to take anything with aspirin.

I've had a scratchy throat for a few weeks now. I've been on 6 MP for five or six weeks. I am starting to wonder if it's a cold or side effect. Ummmm...

The OTC meds might help ease the symptoms, but they're not going to help you get over the cold any faster. I generally avoid them because a lot of them just hop me up and make it impossible to sleep. The only thing I ever really use is Afrin when my nasal passages get so inflamed I can't breathe. I am very careful to only use it for the three days, however.

Thanks for the info. Funny but the symptoms only seem to come around late at night and when I first get up in the morning. Once I get to work things clear up and I feel pretty good.
