Drinking wine and 6MP

I like to drink wine either when I'm cooking or with friends on the weekends. Now, I'm afraid I'll tax my liver too much while on 6MP plus taking so many other meds. Is it ok to drink while on this?

As long as your liver enzymes are okay, an occasional glass here or there shouldn't harm you. It's the binge drinking that is the hardest on the liver while taking 6mp.

From my understanding (from ppl on here) if you plan to drink it is essential to get liver tests done often, as long as they keep coming back A OK give'r light it up and live your life!

It is definitely not recommended to drink while taking 6-MP. 6-MP is considered a type of 'chemotherapy' drug for some leukemias so you know it is a pretty potent medicine. It can potentially increase your LFTs but current literature and guidelines do not mention any significant interaction. Personally, I would not risk it, but if you're able to tolerate alcohol with your UC, then have at it! Always drink responsibly

     I was on 6MP for seven years.  It never kept me in a long term remission except for the first two years I was on it...after that...flared yearly, then almost consistantly.  I enjoy an occasional glass of wine but never drank a drop while on 6MP because my liver and pancreatic enzyme levels were always elevated.  How has your liver tests been?

For what it's worth, I have two glasses of red wine almost every night and I'm on 6MP. My blood tests (which I have done regularly) have always been fine.

I drink wine regularly and I've been okay. I get regular blood work and my results have been good.
