So I'm driving in my car and on the radio I think I hear the term "UC." - what?? I couldn't have heard that right. Then the static hit. Once the radio came back, it heard the rest of the commercial. It was telling people to go to UCstudy.com or call a number. This is a real website (I checked) but I can't figure out what drug it's for.

Has anybody else heard this on the radio? It's so strange to hear "UC" in normal life.

Anybody have any idea what drug this might be for? I poked around the website some but I didn't exhaust every link or anything.

I took budesonide for a flare once and it worked except for weird side effects like racing heart. Oddball thing is my gave it to me and my GI laughs when I mention it. Anyone else tried it?

this is off-topic...

I learned recently that a guy I work with has a J-pouch because of UC. And another day, I was stuffing envelopes as a volunteer at a hospital with 2-3 people. One of them, an older lady, was telling me she used to be a member of the board of directors at the CCFA and her son has Crohn's. It's so weird/neat to cross path with these people in real life.

I saw an ad for this study in the bulk mailing advertisements earlier this year. I called and asked about it, they were conducting the trial locally for me, testing the Budesonide Foam. I am waiting for a local clinical trial for "fecal bacteriotherepy". I know, I know, I'll be waiting for a looong time.

I wonder if you will EVER see it. I suspect that if efficacy can be demonstrated in Phase-I trials, new DNA sequencing techniques will be used to identify the key strains producing the effect. This will result in a probiotic designed for rectal use. That product is what will get to phase III trials.

So, watch for "rectal bacteriotherepy".
