Low Grade fevers at night, malaise etc etc

I know people ask these sorts of questions all the time, but I am having low grade fevers with some stomach aches, and painful, urgent D (the painful D was around before--UC). Was scheduled for Remicade tomorrow but going to have to postpone.

Anyone else experience recently? I figure its a stomach bug given the time of year, the fevers hit out of nowhere two nights ago, and I've just been sleeping a lot.

Any other big things to worry about? Sucks to have this disease, I think it turns everyone into a hypochondriac.

Also, I will be going to the doc tomorrow and see if they can come up with anything, run blood tests or whatever else. I assume its some kind of infection.

I get that if I'm flaring...but have had a gastro bug that had me feeling crappy I'm sure.

If it is a gastro infection, stool samples can tell. Blood tests might show inflammation levels, etc are up.

Can you possibly ask for any rectal meds such as steroid or butyrate?

The ups and downs are overwhelming sometimes. I hope you get answers as to why you're feeling worse.

Fevers are normal for UC. Mine seem to appear late in the evening (one came on last night) and I generally sleep them off (this morning the fever has gone).

There doesn't appear to be a set pattern but I sometimes wonder if it's to do with certain foods in my diet.

I never really understood the fever thing with UC. That just doesn't make sense to me unless you have some kind of virus or bacteria that is actually causing your UC, which in turn could give you a fever. Somewhere, for those who get fevers, there is a clue as to what is causing your case of UC. I have never had a fever connected with my UC.

low grade fevers....our temps go up and down all day actually. Anything that the body is fighting...that includes a flare of UC, can up the body temp.

My normal temp is 96.7ish. 98.6 is a low-grade fever for me, and I can definitely feel it.

i always had a fever when flaring - like heather said, it's a sign that your body is doing battle - even with itself -

I get low grade fevers at night quite often. According to the Mayo Clinic web site, certain inflammatory diseases can cause a fever, and since UC is an inflammatory disease, I always assume that is what is causing mine.

I start to feel the "fever" feeling at around 99.5 and higher, so it definitely seems my body is fighting something. I don't normally get UC fevers so maybe its a stomach bug, which of course are quite a bit worse than the normal person.

I sweated out the fever in the early morning, feel ok today except for a very sore bum. I can't take any rectal meds except for hydrocortisone suppositories which barely do anything. Might try to get back on the Proctofoam since I have reached my yearly insurance deductible (yay for not having to pay for infusions until next year).

Any other tips for the sore/tender bum? its pretty painful and I don't get a very good BM. Kind of like the equivalent of dry heaves. Just took some tylenol 1000mg so I'm hoping that will take the edge off, took two days off work but need to be able to go back on Monday, as long as the fevers don't seem to be some sort of contagious sickness that will become an early Christmas gift to the office.

tucks pads help soothe a sore bum... also if the bum feels raw, diaper cream such as Desitin will help soothe and protect it. Hope you are better soon.
