Hi all so I am pregnant. Is it dangerous for the baby to be on Asacol? What about
breast feeding is that not an option due to that? Just curious of if anyone has experience with this

well, that answers a lot of questions you've been having in the past.
No, it's one of the safest meds...that and the enemas.
Congratulations!

As I recall, the best thing for your baby is a healthy Mom, and if that means your on medication, that's the way it is. If you have any concerns you can have your OB/GYN consult with your GI.
Congratulations!

Please go to infantrisk.org. There is a ton of information about
pregnancy and breastfeeding there, more than your GI and your OB/Gyn know, I promise. The website is a result of many years of research done by Dr. Hale, who is widely respected as a world authority on medications and mother's milk.
And yes, Asacol is absolutely ok during pregnancy and breastfeeding. The only issue with breastfeeding is that baby might develop diarrhea. When you are breastfeeding your baby 9 months from now, I promise you will not know the difference between normal poop and diarrhea and it will probably freak you out, LOL, but it will all be ok. Stay healthy, and feel well and congrats!

My other concern is the pregnancy causing a flare up, had anyone experienced this?

Some do and some have wonderful flare free pregnancies. I hope you are one of them.

Mesalamine is absolutely safe during pregnancy. I've been on Apriso and mesalamine enemas the entire time with absolutely no issues. And as kazbern said, it's fine for breastfeeding too. The whole thing with diarrhea is that there was ONE case of bloody diarrhea in an infant whose mom was using mesalamine.
Basically, flares are about
as common in pregnant women as they are in women who are not pregnant. How you're doing leading up to pregnancy somewhat predicts how you'll do during pregnancy.
Have you contacted both your GI and your OBGYN? If not, you should.
How far along are you?
And congrats!

Many women take Imuran while being pregnant but it's best to consult with your dr.s over that.

Well, you're more than 2-4 weeks, that's for sure. ;) Weeks of pregnancy are counted from the first day of your last period. So by the time you ovulate during the cycle in which you get pregnant, you're already about
2 weeks pregnant, according to how it's all calculated! And by the time you're "pregnant enough" to miss your period, you're about
4 weeks pregnant.
Weird, huh?

Congratulations!
When I was pregnant I was on Imuran and Zyloric (which helped my body to absorb Imuran basically)... My gynecologist freaked out when I told her about
Imuran but my ganstrentologist insisted that it is safe. The only problem was that I had a flare up at the last two months of my pregnancy, so I had to take cortisone. I was so stressed about
the baby but it was more dangerous to leave the flare out of control... At the end, everything worked out well! :)

Congrats. I was on asacal and prednisone for the first 3 months of my pregnancy. No problems. Actually, once my body was used to the pregnancy, I felt pretty good. And it seemed breastfeeding kept my UC symptoms under control. So happy for you!

Congrats! I just had my baby two months ago! I was on Asacol my entire pregnancy without issue. The only thing I would do is make sure you take extra Folic Acid because Asacol interferes with the absorption of it (or so I read). My OB agreed with that as well. As for breast feeding, I was still able to take Asacol while doing so. Unfortunately, I did have to stop because my son has a milk protein sensitivity, and not because I was taking Asacol.
