Cheaper infusion clinics?

Hey guys!

I was wondering if any of you knew if there are infusion clinics that aren't ridiculously expensive? The cheapest one I have found so far is 200 dollars per infusion.

I do not have insurance. I also do not qualify for Medicaid. I am under Compassionate Care, Richland Care. I live in Columbia, SC and the Hospitals here have Infusion services but do not do infusions for Remicade... I have no idea why they don't do Remicade.

The Infusion Clinic that I talked to have said that if I can get Remicade with Johnson and Johnson's Patient Assistance Program and have it sent to the Infusion Clinic, that can drastically cut down on the price, but again, the cheapest that I could find was 200 dollars. So I can get Remicade for free but the costs of the Infusion Clinics would still be incredibly expensive! Are there such things as assistance programs for Infusion Clinics?

I do not have many options left. I have severe left sided UC and it is getting worse and spreading. I am going to talk to my GI about Humira, but if I can't get Remicade, and if what I am currently trying (Imuran) doesn't work or makes me sick, then the only option I have left is the J-Pouch surgery. All the other medications I have tried (Mesalamine, Steroids, Sulfasalazine) have either not worked at all or made me incredibly sick.

Oh how good it is to live in Canada. Remi is expensive in itself cant beleive they charge you for clinic time.

Plenty of locations in Alberta. Mine is a 2min drive.

Oh, what I mean is Infusions that are similar to Chemo Therapy! When you get Remicade infusions, you go to the Infusion Clinics and get hooked up and everything and then sit there just like you would if you were having Chemo Therapy. It takes about 2 hours.... I hope that cleared up your confusion!

It's ok!! I just thought I'd ask! It's ridiculous the cost of the Infusion clinics... I seriously didn't think that they even cost anything!! I'm going to ask my Primary Physician for some help in searching but if I can't find any, then it looks like I'll be getting the surgery if I don't have any luck convincing my GI to try Humira... Ah well!

Dr-A, for me, it is. I can't afford it. However, considering the ORIGINAL price... it's A LOT better. I think the ORIGINAL price was somewhere in the thousands. So in reality, THAT price is ridiculous. My hope is that there is an Infusion clinic that is cheaper than 200 per infusion... but I'm doubting that's possible. 80 per infusion would be great! Even 100 would be better... but 200 is just way too much... IBD is an incredibly expensive Disease...
