Your appendix is in that area. Is it a constant pain or does it come and go? How long has it hurt?

What did you do to get in remission and what are you doing now to stay in remission?

Really not much, that I can assure you work. Was on pentasa 3 mos, no help at all. Started light probiotics and green tea. Still had spasms but no pain, and could eat anything, actually started to gain back alittle of the 30 lbs. I lost. Only been in remission a month so far. But I'm feeling it my back, as of today. Constipated and in pain, waiting for all hell to break loose.

If light probiotics and green tea put you into remission before then you should keep up with those, forever, instead of sitting around waithing for the UC to return. Every time it returns it gets harder and harder to treat so you want to continue doing whatever it was that got you to remission and don't ever stop. Were you actually diagnosed with UC?

Hi I have had ulcerative colitis/crohns for about
7 years. In 2009 I began having pain in my anus area and the consultant told me it was constipation and sent me away to come back in two weeks. This went on for eight weeks and I was really ill. I couldn't eat, sleep, walk, sit because of the horrendous pain I was in. I saw the consultant 3 or 4 times who told me each time it was constipation. Eventually there was a 'pop' and the pain stopped immediately, after all that time it had been an abscess which had burst, creating a fistula. To cut a long story very short and to reach the point you will be interested in, about
6 months after the fistula, I started getting a constant nagging pain to the left, just above the hip bone. I was now under two consultants who both kept telling me once again that it was constipation. This went on for one year until I saw a registrar, instead of the consultant who fortunately was unavailable that day, and he asked if I had had an ultrasound. No, I told him, I had not been offered any help at all. The ultrasound picked up a cyst on my ovary the size of a lemon.
You are the only one who knows your body, go and ask for an investigation and don't let them fob you off.

No I don't remember feeling sick but I did start to lose energy and everything was becoming more of an effort. A friend of mine had no painful symptoms instead she had re-occurring water infections and when they investigated they discovered a cyst the size of a grapefruit. Everyone is different and will have slightly different symptoms. An ultrasound is a very cheap, quick and simple way to find out.

Also look on a website relating to women, bowel problems and period problems seem to go hand in hand.
