Anyone use Canasa more than once a day? I know the recommended dose is once a day but once my doctor tried to up me once to twice and my insurance wouldn't cover it. But coming down on the prednisone I am having anal pain and itching so I was considering taking a second one for a couple of days. Anyone else do this?

I think plenty of people have done them twice a day. Or alternated with a steriod enema in the pm and the canasa in the am.

My script calls for it twice a day. The only downside is they are expensive . Too bad they don't have it in generic.

You can safely take up to 3 a day. But try calling your insurance to try to override their decision. If that doesn't work, than see about alternating Canasa with an enema.

I have actually gotten new insurance this year. That is what reminded me. That he had wanted me to do this in the past. That and the anal pain.

What is the strategy to override the insurance company's policy of one a day?

I take it twice a day when I am flaring. I am down to once a day now.

LowerLeft, your GI's office should be willing to call your insurance company to try to override the once/day policy. I thought most insurance companies would fill it at 2x/day if a doc wrote it that way.
