No, obviously you're not a medical professional, and it seems you probably don't have UC either?

I would just ask that you be cautious with extreme diets with your child. Children's brains and bodies are still developing, and they have very specific nutritional needs. Highly restrictive diets can cause permanent damage in some cases. Just check it out with a qualified pediatric nutritionist (one who isn't selling anything) before embarking on these diets.

I hope you find an acceptable and successful treatment soon.

One safe thing you can do is to go off of all dairy,milk, butter, cheese any sweets that might contain milk solids,

check all breads for anything with dairy.  Eggs might also be a problem,chocolate.  If he eats bread might be a good idea to bake it yourself.

Then again Paleo or GAPS diet.

Believe me I know where you are at,my son lost his colon at 21, resistant to all rescue meds at the time.  Butter might be OK,don't really know.

Re Judy, yes children's are still developing, thats why pumping them full of drugs should be a last resort.
I should have specified that 'juice feasting' would be more appropriate for a child.

Re: quincy, yes I do have UC. And fasting helps, a lot.

No need to be defensive, I was not criticizing you, merely pointing out that children have special needs. Your reaction is unwarranted, thank you.

I don't see what was unwarranted (or defensive) about my response. I merely pointed out that drugs, not to mention surgery, should only be considered if there is no other option. Particularly for kids as the effects are more detrimental.

Anyway as stated on my thread, I am leaving the forum now. I only signed up because this 10 year old is going for surgery and the mother is desperate for an alternative solution, juice fasting or feasting might be it (as stated repeatedly, do your own research first)

I will say that the worst thing I ever did was fighting to keep my colon; it caused many unnecessary health issues due to all the pharmacological treatments. I had the J-pouch procedure last month and I can't even tell I had the surgery, other than the scars. I feel great and have complete control of my bowels. I know it is a hard decision to make, especially when you have to make it for someone else.
