Started 6MP today

Today I started taking 2 6MP pills daily in the morning. I am very nervous about 6MP and taking more medications. I am very hollistic and natural and have significantly watched my diet and begun trying to make better and healthier choices.

Today I started taking 2 6MP pills, 4 Apriso, and 10mg of Pred for a couple weeks before the 6MP kicks in.

Anyone have any experience with 6MP? SHould I be worried. Anyone experience pain or side effects? Has it helped anyone drastically?

I just started 6mp a week ago, and no side effects. My GI said that 95% of people see no side effects on 6mp and it is generally well tolerated. It takes 6 weeks or more until the 6MP has full affect in your system. Just keep up with your blood work in the mean time. I gotta do my first test tomorrow.

I am on 6mp and I have been doing very well. I eat whatever I want and generally do not experience UC symptoms. I could nearly forget I have UC at times. Other times, I will have a bad week where I am having mild symptoms and I can usually manage it with enemas.

I started on 6mp yesterday and I'm still a bit freaked out. I'm also on pred at 40mg and asacol 12 a day. Gi said I have to get blood work the next 4 weeks also.

OP: I've been on 6mp for over a year now with no side effects. I think it has helped me a moderate to good amount. I was at the low end for metabolizing it, so I am only on 50 mg to help protect my liver, which kind of sucks because I would take more if I needed it, but I probably can't handle it.

sodbuster: The first time I was on both 6mp and pred at the same time I got shingles on my head. It was so painful and I couldn't sleep because I couldn't touch my head to anything. I would just sit on my front porch because the week I had it it was cool and windy and the breeze in my hair made it feel a tiny bit better. If your head starts tingling, watch out, haha. Ouch.
