I'm not big religious, but I love listening to him. He has amazing talent as a speaker.

I'm very religious, Christian, conservative theologically and I'd rather eat paint chips. :) NT Wright is my favorite preacher I would say.

My friend gave me a book of his when I was going through a break-up one time, and it was a breath of fresh air to me because I grew up in a fire-&-brimstone teaching church.

I love how positive he is, and I know he gets carried away on certain topics such as prosperity, but I love his attitude and how much he teaches about love. I just can't get into reading more books of his because I know it will kind of be the same thing over and over.

Levi, does NT Wright have books? I will have to look him up.

I also like Joyce Meyer. The last book that I read of hers is what made we want to eat healthy. I love how she tells it like it is.

SouthernGirl-Yea he's written lots of books, some 'scholarly' but most are not. His best is "Surprised by Hope" and is also one of the best books ever written. It's not something you'd read on a Saturday at the beach, but it's very rewarding.

I have only heard a little from him, but he seems to be a good therapist. Makes sense, on everyday issues. I am not religious.

If he helps people, I have no problem with him prospering from it.

He focuses mostly on positive thinking which is never a bad thing when dealing with a chronic illness.

I have many of his books and I've seen him preach live in LA. He's inspiring and does a good job to allow non-religious people incorporate his value system, which in my mind works to allow for a rich meaningful life.

I'm not crazy about organized religion because I think it's a great "divider".

I've listened to this guy a couple of times and like his positive attitude. Agree he's a talented speaker.

i am a devout christian, i know of him and do not like him and his lies. The only person profiting is him with his sold out auditoriums. Prosperity this/prosperity that, give me a break. People love him for one reason, he places the attention on YOU. It's all about YOU. Sometimes, the guy is a laughing-stock.
I'd urge you to look elsewhere, figure it out for urself.

Never saw the guy. But I remember an office discussion about Jimmie Swaggart just before his fall from power. Somebody asked how he could be so different and opposite from his first cousin, Jerry Lee Lewis. One was so devout and the other a rock star.

I said they actually have very much in common, they are both successful entertainers.

Anyone who says "God wants you to prosper financially" is full of s$#t.
If that were true, why are so many good people so darn poor?
Salesman, flimflam man, dr. feelgood, he just another in a long line of pocket liners.

I fricken love the man! He's a positive speaker and what he preaches is you can do all anything in your life if you have faith. He gives hope. I try to watch him every Sunday morning. I have a few of his DVD's they are excellent. With all the negative talk on the news and in the papers and people around me, this terrible dis-ease I have,  he's a breath of fresh air I welcome every day! I "liked" him on Facebook so I get daily inspirational messages.

There's always going to be a critic, about him, about you, about me, but I truly believe he's doing GOD's work. If you're a light in this world, it's going to show.

If you want to see a good preacher speak- watch, listen or read some of Dr. Robert H Schuller or Norman Vincent Peale, those are two true inspiring people, not "used car salesman" preaching money and prosperity.

Huh? what? I don't see anything negative in what he says. He has positive inspiring messages.

I know he's someone everyone either loves or dislikes...but I get so irritated now when I go to church and my preacher tries to tell everyone that the verse "all things work for the good for those who love the Lord" is only talking about salvation, not everyday life...he's very anti-Joel. I LIVE by that verse now that I've only read one Joel Osteen book and I like to look for the silver lining now in everything and try to see the bigger picture...when you look at some bibical stories, I would say some things worked out for the good..joseph being thrown in prison, etc.

I can honestly agree with many people that Joel Osteen is a spiritual man, a man who gives hope and an excellent speaker. What he does not do, in my opinion, is truly preach the bible. Yes, he does use it as a tool and reference but to me the bible is black and white/right and wrong ... Just look up some of his interviews and transcripts (particularly when he was on Larry King.) He does not make a true stand about anything. He whitewashes things and does not give an real answer. He is religious but not necessarily Christian. (again, my opinion only)

I firmly believe that the only way to heaven is to give your heart over to Jesus Christ. Our good deeds outweighing our bad have nothing to do with it. Whether you lead a homosexual life, are a murder, thief, abuser, rapist, etc. If you give your heart to Him, you will be forgiven and be with Him. We all sin and in God's eyes, they are all equal sins. All I can do is hope and pray that when my time comes, I will go to heaven. I plan to get re-baptized soon to show my commitment ...

I'm not religious, but I really like Joel Osteen and Joyce Meyers. They have good messages and a lot of wisdom, religious or not.

IAS come on now you were just talking about how nice civility was the other day between the two of us!

I type this as a dyed in the wool libertarian capitalist who doesn't care if people want to be rich and spend it doing whatever they want: As a Christian, I don't have much tolerance for him to make that a personal religious message and saying God wants you to be rich as an end in itself, like BeatUC mentioned. There's a good picture collage on the net that includes Osteen's church. Google it: type in "if you thnk God approves" and it'll pop up in the autocomplete.

The positive message of Christianity isn't health and wealth, but God's new creation being ushered in as His followers build His kingdom reflecting His love.

THAT IT'S EXACTLY! He does not need to preach the bible. He even said so himself. He wants to attract religious and non religious people with message of encouragement and hope. I think that is the whole point about him., not preaching bible said this and bible said that.

This is the reason why I like listening to him, he just says to live life to the fulllest, not to dwell on bad things, keep a positive attitude as much as you can and enjoy.

Plus he's entertaining with his humor.
