lol, funny this should come up today!
this very morning, I had an abdominal ultrasound because of what I describe as my heart pumping in my stomach.
My family doctor has sent me for the past two years for these ultrasounds for what she describes as firmness or fullness in upper abdomen.
I think it has always been there as far as i can remember, but when she pointed it out and seem a bit worried last year, I worried a bit too. The biggest concern is an aortic aneurism (which is extremely serious, mind you) but in my case it seems to just be pressure from my large bowel (according to 2 technicians doing the scans now). My Fam. Dr. wondered if it is just cause I'm slim or have strong abs (lol - wish i could claim that one... ) Seems I'm just build that way and the technician today said it is possible that when flaring it swells a bit with inflammation.
I say it's always been there cause I remember many time being snuggled up with whoever i was seeing at the time and the guy commenting on feeling my heart beat in my belly and figuring I was very nervous! During a barium scan (while trying to diagnose UC) that technician commented on a particularly long and loopy colon, so I think it is just twisted up and crammed in there...
Hope your reasons are as harmless as mine, seeing it can indicate serious matters however, you might want to talk to your Dr. about it.
Hope I didn't scare you.
