Trouble coming off Entocort

Hello,
I asked my doctor how to come off of entocort and they told me that I can just stop it , I don't need to wean off of it... and then, a week later I've been really sick- i thought i was the flu at first, but now im not sure.. I've been nausea, going to the bathroom a ton, achey, tired....anyone else experience this or have any thoughts, suggestions? at this point, i don't want to go back on entocort, and i feeel very frustrated with my doctor.

3 is quite a high dose. I was under the impression that entocort is supposed to be weaned off as well, since it is still a steroid.

It could be withdrawal symptoms, but you never know and it is a good idea to get it looked at.

Is your blood pressure also low?

yeah, thank you, i will call my doctor next week.. .I naturally have low blood pressure, but I don't know if it is lower right now...

When I was on it ,I was told to just stop. It's really not a high dose. I had no problems stopping.

I would call the on call doctor. I had real issues with Entocort as well. they weaned me off of it. unfortunately, they had left me on it for 3 and a half years (supposedly accidentally) and the damage to my body was already done. There was DEFINITELY a weaning process though. I was told that you do NOT just stop any kind of steroid treatment.

I stopped Entocort cold a few years ago, no transition, and had no side effects. But everyone reacts to things differently and if nothing else is causing this reaction then you should rely on your own instincts.

Funny that they dont offer capsules with lower doses than 3mg, to assist weaning. I am presently almost off pred while switching to entocort... and will then be on 2 -3 caps of only. But since it is highly non systemic i guess it can be almost stopped cold turkey, or at least cold turkey in one jump from a single capsule to zero.

It's interesting that people can go off entocort cold turkey. When I took it, the side effects felt similar to prednisone. Then again, I'm very sensitive to medications.

I still wouldn't recommend it though.
