Help, advise needed with reactions?

Hi everyone.

Since I'm so new to this and there are so many experienced members here, I have a question.  I'm on Lialda, Pred, and Donnatol, last night I started with horrible heartburn...today a little heartburn and what I would call a constant "burning belly", no matter if I ate or not.  Also had 5 trips to bathroom this morning.

Is this normal, will it always feel this way?  I called the Dr. and he said give it a little time, I have to see him again next Wednesday, he said we'll talk then if it's still bothering me.

heartburn could be agitation from the Pred. have not heard of Lialda causing heartburn.

will you be tapering the pred?

I would guess it's the pred also. Call your DR tomorrow and ask for a ppi. In the meantime you can try tums or maalox.

Prilosec is a ppi (proton pump inhibitor)
I aslo get heartburn from Prednisone. For me it actually helps to eat a starlight mint, unless it's the misreable bloated & swollen colon kind of discomfort... then I just have to go on a liquid diet.

How long have you been on Prilosec? If its not long, it can take a little while to reach its peak effectiveness. Also, when do you take it and when do you take the pred?
