If you can't twist you ankle but can put pressure on it with leg lifts - and since it seems you like crunches - try hitting the indoor rowing machine. If you really "row" and learn the proper stroke and such it burns a ton of calories, builds strength like no tomorrow, massages your gut - and is totally low impact.
