New to group, and flaring badly.

Hello all. So i have been stalking healing well as i dont know anyone with UC and thought i would share and see if anyone has some insight for me.
My history, diagnosed in 2004 after a massive flare, had blood transfusion, colonoscopy which could only go so far. Was put on asacol. Then about 6 years later had another colonoscopy which showed multiple pseudopolyps due to the bad flaring. Scopes came back normal, luckily, but still have tonnes of them as they couldnt remove all of them.

have been on asacol every since. I have times of flare with a lot of loose stools, some blood but since christmas i have been flaring badly badly. Constant bleeding, mucous etc. Im on 40g prednisolone, 1,600mg asacol x 3 day, 2 foam enemas per day, 1 omeprazole. Today, i had such a bad bleed that was filled with clumps of mucous, and blood just poured out of me like a tap! So, i went to get checked at my hospital (only one here) and had blood pressure taken, temperature and sent home! They said they couldnt test my blood count until the morning so have to wait until then. Just have to wait, see if i loose any more blood or wait till morning. Just had another trip to the bathroom but luckily there wasnt as much blood as this morning.

Anyway, im supposed to be going on medical to the UK next month, IF they can get me an appointment to have a colonoscopy and meet a GI. At the moment am being dealt with by a GP who asks the GI for advice :/.

Im starting to freak out about this whole thing. Worried about how much damage is being caused by this flare, having so much blood loss, and the fact that i already have polyps on top of it all.

If anyone has any advice, on how to deal with flaring, food (chicken soup today and toast), or just general insight i would much appreciate it. Im supposed to be reducing my pred tomorrow by 5mg but i think that just isnt going to happen anytime soon.

Thank you for your reply. They are trying the pred first, then if this fails they would consider giving me the azathioprine. The GI told my GP that he was undertreating me with the asacol and the pred (originally only on 20mg) since Dec. I have been on 40mg for over a week and had gone from 10+ bm to around 2-3 per day. I have about 2 days of really good, semi-solid but then i wake up in the morning and its just blood for another two days.

My diet used to consist of a lot of brown rice, brown pasta, bread etc. i was never given any diet advice no matter how much i asked and now im thinking it prob didnt do any good to my insides. I have now switched to white, no veggies, just soup.

I think my main fear is the polyps, and just being left to basically rot from the inside until they get me an appoint and see whats going on. They dont even take the blood loss too seriously! And they have never mentioned giving me the pred on drip but i might ask that tomorrow when i see them. Thank you again
