Hi,

For anyone that has had issues taking NSAIDs, can I ask what happens / fells like?  I've have my Jpouch for about 25 years with minimal issues (just bouts of pouchitis).  This past Monday I was nauseous on and off and this lasted for the week (but not so strong that I actually vomited).  And when not nauseous, my stomach felt really tight/tender/sore/gassy after eating.  I was scared that I was developing crohn's or some other stomach issue.  Then it occured to me that I've been taking celebrex daily, and also within the past month, I've taken an additional advil to get rid of a migraine.  So I'm wondering if this pain / sick feeling would be due to the NSAIDs as I know we have to be really careful and some won't even try them.  Anyone experienced issues or have thoughts?

Well, I don't 'feel' anything. I just start pooping blood within 4 hours of Advil or Naproxen.

Now, I take Relafen(Nabumetone) and so far so good but still looking for alternatives as backup. If your insurance is good, talk about Celebrex or Mobic with your doc. They are similar or even better than Relafen.

Thanks deltaforce.  Now that I think of it, I also had bleeding when taking naproxen many years ago.  Hmm ok...so not sure if my stomach issues...which is now mostly burning after eating... are related to the NSAIDs (celebrex + advil) or if something else is going on like pouchitis or gastritis.

I can not comment about pouchitis or gastritis but you do not need a combination of Advil and Celebrex. They work pretty same (in terms of the effects)

NSAIDs are notoriously harsh on your stomach. You can try taking a PPI for a few weeks and see if that helps with your stomach issues, but you should tell your doctor because NSAIDs can cause stomach ulcers.
