When you get copies does this mean the written report of your colonoscopy or is there pictures or something more significant? If you wanted a second opinion who do you ask the GI or your primary doc? And what would the new doc use....would he do all new tests including a colonoscopy?

You request 'all available information' labs/diags/commentary/notes.

I got all the written reports, labs etc. and a CD with the scope on it.
I asked my GP for another GI.
My new (and awesome) doc took all the reports and CD, 2 weeks after the scope. We had an extended visit and went over everything again.

How current are the records you are requesting? New Dr may want to look and see whats up and if anything has changed.

The diagnoses was made in August 2012. It's not so much that I don't believe him. More that it would be nice to have another opinion. They can be narrow minded in seeing what they want to see. And you have to wonder how much money the doctors make off the meds they prescribe.

They dont really like to give you that stuff in Canada. I got some papers when leaving the hospital and blood test results cost money. All I got after colonoscopy was the mask they used to put me to sleep but that was childrens hospital lol

I'm from Canada. I do get copies of my son's blood work and have a written report of his colonoscopy and liver biopsy. But I'd like to see the inflammation for myself. Some of you get CDs and pics. Thanks for the info. His next appointment is in April so I will see what else he has to give me. With his liver biopsy the doctor who did the biopsy obviously had information from the GI so one of the results says "could indicate early signs of primary sclerosis" sorry I don't have the exact wording. Where as if that doc didnt have any prior knowledge he may not even have indicated that symptom. Do you know what I mean?

I only got a summary report and nothing else. I did not know standard practice here so did not ask anything else.
When I was living in Sweden, they don't perform colonoscopy under sedation (just inject something to numb the intestines). So I would watch everything in front of the screen and ask/talk/discuss with the doctor everything that I saw in my intestines. That really helped.
