How does alcohol affect your UC and how much does it take?

Just wondering how much does it take for diffrent people in different stages....

Alcohol in moderation is fine with uc. I have a couple beers a week and have no issues.

I went to a micro-brewery festival back in September with unlimited, samples of beer. It was a good time, I lost count of what I drank, got a little tipsy, but was completely fine the next morning. I think I had to poop one extra time, and it was a little looser than usual. All-in-all it was well worth it. I just wouldn't drink like that all the time as it isn't healthy for anyone uc or not.

It's individual, some cannot handle any alcohol..alcohol is generally hard on the colon, best to tread with caution. Experimenting for yourself is the only way to find out.

alcohol and intestinal bleeding

I'm not able to handle alcohol well it seems. I had some last weekend and I bled for 2 days. I was already better in regards to the bleeding thanks to pred. Bleeding has stopped now.

After my last cleanse I indulged in my first glass of pain free alcohol ever and felt tipsy. another glass 2 days later was disastrous. Ive never been able to get even the least bit tipsy prior to that. Id could drink multiple drinks/shots and Id just get flush, sick feeling and then throw up and get horrible D

Beer gives me more BMs and looser. Other alcohol just more BMs. It goes back to "normal" after a day. So its fine in moderation but going hard like I did a few years back would put me in the hospital again.

I would suggest you to refrain from it if you are on Azathioprine. My former workplace was a regular friday evening out type. After I started Aza, I started drinking water.

Once in while is OK but I would still avoid alcohol preparation stronger than 15%v/v.

I can drink to the point of getting drunk and still no issues. Proctitis.

I drink when I feel like it, usually I have a couple glasses of wine a few nights a week. Some nights I have a few cocktails. I haven't had any problems with alcohol since i've been in remission. When I was flaring, I had a shart incident while drinking and I always think it's related. The truth is, anything could have caused that incident and it's more due to being inflamed than it was due to the alcohol.

It actually makes me have fewer BMs and they are more formed. I think it even constipates me a little. Only if I have say 1 martini though. If I have any more than I might get an upset stomach and more gas. Other than that I'd say it doesn't make me flare or make my flare worse.

I've been managing colitis since I was 15 so I can say with utmost certainty that it depends on which stages you are experiencing. I found that it some times takes longer for alcohol to absorb when I'm at my peak but when I'm experiencing a relapse I tend to feel the affects after two drinks.

It's recommended that people with UC avoid beer, liqueurs and drink dry wine but we are allowed free range on most hard alcohol like rum vodka etc. Oh and avoid things with sugar the hang overs sucks and the BMS are painful.
