pred/remicade

I am coming off a 5 month nightmare with prednisone while it did work while on it, the tapering off from 3-5mg pills n have been a nightmare the worts joint and chest pain ever. i had to go back up for 2 weeks as I could not move or get out of bed. tapering again but this time they gsve me zoloft to temporarily help and it is forbsome reason plus percocet for when it isvst it's worse however, the lower I go the more the colitis comes back. i cannot tolerate oral 5ASA or Mezevant My gp wants my gastronto put me on remicade when I finish tapering . she said she has patients who do very well on it. my question is, while reading about Remicade, the side effects sound brutal. can anyonebshare their Remicade experience? would I have to stay on it for life? also, does anyone have any idea why the zoloft is helping so much with the pain? I do not normally suffer from depression

I've had my first two loading doses of Remicade already. My symptoms improved after 3 days. I've had two very brief colds since that first loading dose, but nothing since.

The assumption is that if it works for you, and you don't develop resistance to it, you'd be on it for life. However, I expect that within the next 10-20 years, there will be new advances in UC treatments.

My favorite GI said it best: the side effects of steroids are serious and extremely common. The side effects of drugs like 6MP and Remicade are serious and very uncommon.

Prednisone side effects are scary, and you're having them! UC has 'side effects' too.

I've been steroid dependent since June, but I am on budesonise now instead of prednisone.

I am on Imuran and Remicade. Headaches have been my worst side effect so far this time.
