Proctitis turning into chron's?

Crohn's can occur anywhere in the digestive tract, so proctitis, which is inflammation in the rectum, can be a result of Crohn's. It can also be a result of UC. Sometimes it is hard to tell which inflammatory bowel disease you have when it is just proctitis.

It wouldn't 'turn into' Crohn's, but it does seem there are lots of stories where people present as classic UC and then find out it is Crohn's. It was really Crohn's the whole time. I was this way: severe inflammation from anus to 25 cm and crystal clear colon at 25.1 cm all the way to 10 cm into my ileum.

I know a lot of folks disparage the Prometheus Serology 7 blood test but I had it done when I was checked to see how I would metabolize 6mp. It showed "UC like CD" Both GI's that I saw during that time disregarded the test without a second thought. It turned out it was right. That pattern is most likely someone who would be ASCA-, ANCA+ and still have Crohn's. That's what I have. (Most CDer's are ASCA+ and ANCA-). The test has added more markers over the years and is up to 7. The last one they added is a anti-Cbir1 antibody. Of the seven that was the only one to show up CD on mine, the other six were UC. So, if I had the test done a couple of years earlier it would have said UC like my two GIs.

My GI has also told me that in a few years UC and CD may not be common terms for these diseases as there are possibly more causes or processes at work. I think that may be what someone like me, "UC like CD" could be. I mean, what does UC like CD really mean, anyway. Sounds like a third as of yet undefined disease to me.

That's what I thought, my mom had UC bad, my uncle too, and me proctitis so when she said chron's I thought to myself that it doesn't sound right because no-one I know in my family on either side had that.

She was having a flare up, went in and eventually had a perforation of the bowl which caused free air to release into her body, she was blowing up, eventually because they could not stop what was happening she got sepsis ( Blood poisoning ), after 6 surgery's they got her to the point of sitting up in a chair, but they removed alot of her insides, she even smiled, but then from all the work the doctors did on her body she had a massive heart attack, it took 30 minutes to get her back, but she did not come back, only her body did. It was traumatic to my family, 37 days of "Ok, what do we do now"... making decisions to keep or alive or let her die, eventually we had to have them do a "DNR" order. Other than her, I have never heard of someone dying from UC. she was 58.

Sorry to hear about all of your losses, this flare up is traumatizing me, I fear I will go the route she did and go through what she did, UC is scary.
