colonscopy results - mild non specific near the appendiceal orifice

Not sure the means. Doc took off after the colonscopy to next patient. My discharge says mild non specific near the appendiceal orifice.

Any idea what that means? My symtoms are bloating, loose stools and other IBS type symtoms. Pain only when I drink milk, little bit of lactose interlorance.

By the way I''m 30yrs old..

Mild inflammation near the orifice of the appendix to the colon. Non specific means it didn't look like any specific disease (e.g. UC) to the eye of the doctor.

You're not really going to get any information out of this until the pathology report comes back on the biopsies that were taken. He DID take biopsies, right?

Ok thanks for fast response. It will be biospy according to my discharge paper.

I was looking online at the different types of colitios and I'm worried that it might be Ischemic Colitis, it happens to 90% in people over 60 but in younger types like mysef (30) ir can be from blood clots or blood/vien disorder.

Probably not ischemic, but you'll have to wait. With inflammation on the right side only, a UC diagnosis seems unlikely. Which leaves Crohn's.

Lactose intolerance is common in people with inflammation in the terminal ileum.

When is your follow-up appointment?

I forgot to mention my discharge paper also has hemorrhiods too.

I'm looking at the colonscopy exam images and it says normal colon, normal terminal ileum. I'm looking at the mild colitis photo and it looks slighty reddish pink but not bright red or inflamed.

The next appointment

Last year I panicked and went to ER because i seen blood on surface of my stool. They ran abdominal ultrasound and ct scan with constrast. My appt is not in a few weeks which will leave me wondering.

Blood on the surface of your stool was probably due to the hemorrhoids. You won't be able to see mild inflammation in a photo from your colonoscopy -- it takes quite a bit of medical training. It isn't like skin where you can pretty clearly see if it's inflamed.

My guess is you're dealing with IBS here, not IBD, but biopsies are the gold standard, so you're going to have to just wait it out.

Luckily I was able to speak with him a few minutes ago and he said overall it looked normal with a little bit redness, most likely from prep. He said it did not look like UC or chrons. Yes youre right the biopsy is the final say.
