Hi all,
I am currently on holiday and have run out of Asacol. Bad I know! I was so worried about
my prednisolone that I forgot all about
Asacol. Anyway, where can I buy it here in Florida? Do I need a prescript
ion? I have one from another country which might not be accepted here?! Any advice much appreciated.
Thanks, k

I would think you would have to go to a clinic and get a script
from a local doctor. It will probably be quite expensive if you're paying out of pocket without insurance (clinics are relatively inexpensive but medication is very expensive, especially name brand and there is no generic available for Asacol in the US). I've gotten samples from my GI in the past but never from a GI I didn't have a relationship with and since you don't live locally, I doubt you have seen anyone.

Thank you. Thought it might be a problem! Yikes, I have about
8 pills left, will draggggg them out and keep my prednisolone high until I'm home.
Will ask a pharmacy just in case too.
Thank you

You can always ask a GI for some samples.

Florida has so many international travelers that pharmacists may be able to help you out. Why not stop in a Walgreens or CVS (they are ALL over the place) and ask.
One of the benefits of US travelers using a nationwide pharmacy is that you can (usually) get refills out of town if you have your prescript
ion bottle with you.
That hasn't helped me however when we go on trips in the middle of nowhere, like the Southwest, with no cities with pharmacies nearby for hundreds of miles.

Hello! Well, I gave it a shot, but they wouldn't even look at it without a prescript
ion from a US doctor. Nevermind. I'm back in the UK on weds, so will try it then.
Thanks for the advice.
