My Mom left today....this makes me very sad. cry

She lives up in PA, where I grew up, and we don't get to see each other very often at all. The last 2 times I tried to get up there to visit, health problems ended up canceling my plans. She decided to come visit me at the end of January because I had been in a terrible UC flare for almost 2 months at that point, and she wanted to see how I was doing and help me out. A week or so after she got here I started to get even sicker, which I didn't think was possible, and she decided to stay a while. Then when it became clear that I would probably have to get surgery, she decided to stay to help me out if/when that happened...and it did, on March 13th. She played a huge part in saving my life and keeping things together day to day while all this was happening. She took care of my dogs and me, cooking, cleaning, shopping...ANYthing that needed done and then some. She has been beyond amazing..... I miss her already.

I'm sorry she had to go back home. Does your mom have a computer? If she does, maybe you guys can both sign up for Skype and chat and see each other by computer.

Your very lucky...I'm sure you have told her how much you love her and appreciate all she has done for you but tell her again. :)

I miss her so much already....and it's different knowing that I now MUST do everything on my own. Ready or not.

Michele...Funny enough, Mom joined the technology age while she was here and bought an iPad. I helped her learn how to use it the best I could, despite the fact that I had never used one myself. I'm pretty sure I could talk her through finding skype and getting started on using it from time to time!

And YES...she is a super, wonderful GREAT Mom, and I could never tell her "thank you" or "I love you" enough!

I'm sure you'll miss her every day, but it seems you did a lot for her too by helping her learn how to use her new iPad...very cool!

If you can Skype, that will help a lot....and maybe once you get back to work your missing her will ease.

Say hi to her from us, and thank her again for taking such good care of you.

Looks like the dogs will help with the emotional part...but I guess the rest is up to you... :-)

I'm sorry that you miss your mom :( I can relate as well. I lived in Los Angeles while I was having a HUGE flare and first being diagnosed a year ago. My family is from Northern California. Moms are the best, but life must go on, even with this pain in the *** UC ! Thank goodness for todays technology, where you can talk to your mom on the phone and even Skype if you both have that option. Things will get better and you will eventually learn to help yourself when sick or rely on good friends around you. I had to do it and though it's not your mom you will be just fine, I know it :)
