Flaring Again, and Starting 6MP

Hey everyone, I haven't been around for the last few months, as my UC had become a lot more manageable, to the point where I was only taking my Asocol. Well a few weeks back I started flaring, and it’s now back in full force. I went to my GI, and he suggested starting 6MP, I've seen others say they've tried this, and I wanted to give it a shot before going to some of the more extreme meds.   I just started them on Friday, and I know my GI said it could take a few months to really take effect, so I was just curious what some peoples experiences were on this med. Ive been on 6mp since September of last year. After getting nothing from asacol and 2 hospital stays during my first flare, 6mp has kept me in remission where I was back to living life and doing what I wanted again. As of about 2 weeks ago I've had a minor setback where I have noticed a little blood and softer stools again but nothing major. It hasn't really affected me that greatly and my doc doesn't seem to worried about it, its just scary when you start to see those signs again. I continue to live pretty well I just have to be a little more careful what I eat. I'm scheduled for a colonoscopy tomorrow so my gi can see how the healing has gone and what is happening with the recent setback. Overall though I'm happy with 6mp and haven't had any noticeable side effects.

I've been on 6mp and pred since the end of January 2013 to combat a flare, and I've had no side effects from 6mp whatsoever. I survived cold and flu season at work without getting a thing despite the constant coughing and wheezing I heard from everyone around me. My GI intially started me on a low dose of 6mp for my body weight in jan, and then at the start of this month increased the dose to the higher end of the scale for my body weight. I am getting a flex-sig tomorrow afternoon to check on my healing process.

I've been on 6MP for about 9 mos now unfortunately with no positive results. Still in a flare. I have ulcerative proctosigmoiditis. I'm on a max dose (200mg). Be sure to have liver enzymes checked regularly. There's actually a lab test you should take prior to initiating 6MP therapy to be sure you can properly metabolize the drug.

I've been on 6MP now for over two weeks, it seems to have calmed down my flare, no more blood, but I've noticed that instead of intense sickness every now and then, I feel uneasy all the time. Like my stomach is always on the verge of getting sick, sort of that feeling you have when you've been drinking right before the room starts to spin. I've also noticed random bouts of dizziness. Is any of these effects common with the 6MP. I'm also taking bentyl which could be causing the dizziness, but the sickness is really annoying. The smell of most foods has also been causing me to feel ill.   Has anyone experienced these sort of symptoms after starting on 6MP?   Thanks3  

I've been in the Bentyl since August. As high as 3x a day, currently trying to keep it a just 1 or as needed, and I've noticed plenty of dizzyness from that. But the uneasy feeling is all new, only in the last week or so, that's why I am thinking its the 6mp
