Need help pleae from experienced FTers....Edbar, etc.

Having a frustrating time with our home enema FT's for my teenage son.  We are using Fleet bottles and are using saline solution.  We are straining the blenderized emulsion, and still the solution is not going in and just dripping out.  I am trying to let my son administer this himself and he is highly motivated and cooperative so that is not a problem.  Is he not squeezing the bottle hard enough?  Is it possibly his position or should we be altering the bottle in some way?  Suggestions on any of the mechanics??  Thank you!!!

We don't use the fleet enema bottle.

Instead we use a 2 ounce syringe with catheter tip and a 16 FR catheter to administer the enema.

I have experience with this.

I actually think the best method is using en enema bag
and makeing the solution pretty watery using the saline.

Alot of people try to make a thick solution and then massage
stomach & lay on side etc. But I honestly believe that thick solution
stays near bottom of colon and therefore is difficult to retain.

I did once with watery solution and stayed upsidedown with my legs
on bad and head on floor. Did so for like 2 hours was oncomfortable but
I retained more than 12 hours and saw great impact.

I believe when u make watery in glides through alot more of the colon and
the walls of intestines suck up the saline therefore pulling the bacteria into
the colon walls. The saline goes to the kidneys which you can tell because
you need to take a leek even if you having been drinking. I feel the bacteria
gets spread alot more throughout the colon this way. Thus making it much
easier to retain.

Tankor - that is some position to hold! But he is young so I bet he can do it! To get to 12 hours it is worth a shot. I think we are still too thick, too. Will go thinner, thanks.

Edbar - did you get your saline from the same site?

I get the saline from a local drug store in 1 litre bottles. They have to order for me.

I get the syringes and catheters from a local surgical/medical supplies store so I don't actually get the from the sites I posted. It was just to give you an idea what they look like. Depending on where you are there may be stores who carry them or can order for you.

We've been using an inclined mattress and also believe in letting gravity do the work. The mattress is definitely more comfortable.

Just wanted to update to say we are doing much better, thanks to your help! We combined lots of the suggestions and he is now able to get about 200 ml in. He first puts a small amount in, then has urgency. So he uses the restroom and finishes the remaining volume. He elevates his legs and hips a while as suggested, then gets on with his day. He is now starting to hold 4-6 hours.

We are planning on continuing daily (with a few days off as needed) for the month of May and see now it goes. Thanks all for your help!!

You can use a small metal mesh kitchen strainer (got ours at grocery store in the kitchen utensil section). I set it on top a small funnel and insert the funnel into the enema bottle. Made everything work better and prevented the tip from clogging. Hope this helps!

if you don't mind, please don't use THAT one when i come to your house for tea
