Large tumor on colon/ losing weight

Hello all!!

I'm not sure if I'm in the right place, but I was wondering if anyone has any experience or insight into colonscopy type results. My Gramma, whom I'm very close to just found out that she has a large tumor near her rectum in her colon and she has been losing weight. There is a concern that it is cancer but it will take a while to get the results. She doesn't want to accept it or discuss it so I've been trying to reaserch it online and it seems like theres a high chance of cancer? Just curious if anyone has any thoughts?

Unexplained weight loss is a big concern. Has she been having any bowel symptoms?

My grandmother had an ischemic colon that she told no one about until she was at death's door from peritonitis. She had a colectomy at age 93, but did die two weeks later from post-surgical complications. It was terrible for her to suffer for months from bloody diarrhea and bowel pain. I still can't understand why she didn't ask for help earlier.

Sorry to hear about your grandma. I don't have any knowledge about this but maybe someone else will chime in. When does she get the results back?

THank you for the responses :), as far as the bowel symptoms, I know she has had very bad diarrhea for the past 2-3 years, It has been 10 days and she said the intenest said she will get her results from the surgeon...that sounds a little odd to me?

Hopefully it's just a huge polyp, and not cancer.

Let us know what you find out.
