Hey Sherry -- we just had the same thing happen -- my hubby has been out of work for 1 1/2 years so we lost his house and moved back into mine. We moved last weekend, but the downsize out of his house (where he was for 23 years) was mind blowing and stressful.
The "stuff" we had to choose to get rid of and keep was very hard for him. When it came down to the keep or save...most of it was just stuff. We kept the things that are important to us, the furniture we really loved, and the things that had good memories tied to it. The other stuff was just taking up room, and fortunately I have some younger friends at work that were starting out in a new house, so they were able to take some of the things we didn't need -- so we recycled! ;-)
I can tell you that it is a freeing experience to be out from under all the junk accumulated, but the banks are playing havoc with my husband. Not only did we pay his mortgage for the 1 1/2 years (hoping he'd get a job) but we also had all the paperwork in hand for a short sale, had a cash buyer in 24 hours, and that was back in January. Freddie Mac told our bank last month that he hadn't been in default long enough yet, so they couldn't accept the cash offer deal. Seriously? SERIOUSLY???? So, yeah, I get it. Life is not easy right now for many of us.
I too am having a few blips right now, but who wouldn't be? Take care Sherry, and I'm thinking about you -- sending Dave's magic wand to you, lol. Hang in there -- I'm so glad to have this forum!
