Humira... doesn't hurt - I've been doing it wrong.

Everyone says it hurts, it gets burned into your mind before starting it. So before even feeling any pain you hesitate. Now the pain is worse because you were expecting it and.... likely doing it wrong.

The video on Humira's website isn't really too specific, or specific enough to explain, that you're really not suppose to really inject this into your muscle. You pinch some flesh like the video shows, but it's likely you're pinching too much flesh! In the video on the Humira site it shows she grabs some flesh on her thigh but isn't really doing a good job of it.

I saw this video that helped, and I noticed he pinched less flesh which gave the needle more distance to travel without having to go into the muscle. It's supposed to inject into subcutaneous tissue. I followed this and it didn't hurt! Last time I did it it hurt like crazy and I teared up.

Worst part is I spent the better half of an hour working up the nerve to press the button, and after finding this video finally pressed it. Here's the video.

You didn't pinch flesh at all? Well that would hurt the most. The point was, no pun intended, to inject into tissue above muscle into the skin and fat.

It burns like hell, but i find if i leave it out of the fridge longer it doesn't hurt as much.

The thigh has less nerve endings, but it's often easier for people to get enough skin and fat to pinch around the stomach which is why many report that being less painful. It's easier to do it correctly around the stomach. It's far easier to just pinch and raise muscle on the thigh.
