How often do you go?

I would consider myself in semi-remission. Went from pouring out blood, passing mucus, incontinence, diarrhea and going 20-30 times a day to small amount of blood occasionally in the mornings, no mucus, ability to "hold it in", formed stools about 85% of the time, and going 4-8 times a day. Today i'm up to 7... wish i could go back to going 2-4 times a day like i used to.

How about you guys?

before i was diagnosed, i had very bad constipation my whole life so i wouldn't go often- just a few times a week. when i got uc, i started getting diarrhea after i was on lialda. my worst was up to 30x a day (and most days i was eating practically nothing). lately, it's 3-4x a day which isn't bad. i have 2 a days sometimes but i will NEVER complain about 3-4x since i've had it 1000x worse than that. it's a gift to only go that.

Usually three times in the morning, between 5:30 and 7:30 with actual stool, then four or five times over the rest of the day (every time I pee, m/l) that is just mucus or mucus and blood.

The last two days have been really messed up because of my cold, cold medicine, and not being able to do my enemas.

Some of you are so lucky :( i wish i could go 3-4 times a day. 7 is too much for me:(

In the morning somewhere in the hour after waking up and eating breakfast.

I might have another small one a half hour or so afterward..like a teeny poo (not completely emptied out from the first one.

I rarely have one in the evening, but I might depending on how much and what I ate the day before.

If anything more than that and having urgency and frequency, I'm on my way flaring.

Before UC I went once a day in the morning like clockwork really beautifully formed perfect painless poops. I even remember thinking to myself "Gee, I'm so lucky that I poop so nicely when it seems like everyone else has poop problems!"

During my first course of prednisone at doses >30mg I went only once a day, but it was always painful and unformed. Without steroids or antibiotics I went about 30x per day (and this was on NPO bowel rest in the hospital). With steroids, antibiotics, Remicade, and methotrexate I went about 10x per day but always with blood and mucus. Now I have an ileostomy so I'm "going" all day long, but I only empty about 4x. In a couple months I will see what the norm is for my j-pouch!

When I was flaring the average was 7-10 times a day. For many years.

Now that Im in remission, hopefully well on my way to completely healed ;) I go once a day, first thing in the morning. Very occasionally Ill have another movement if Im doing detox stuff.

Before I was diagnosed, it was always, everyday one time. I really wish I had appreciated it more at the time! Now, depending on how bad I'm feeling - 3-4 times in a mild flare, the worst was 7 or 8, but that's not counting trips to the bathroom that were not as productive.

Just curious those that said they were going 30x a day, was it just a case of you going for a few minutes, and then going right back in. I've always wondered this, even at my worse I was only around 10x, but for me when I go I tend to stay awhile, 30-45 minutes sometimes depending. So just wondering if you guys are just ini and out in 5 minutes, so that's why you went more.

Yeah, it's not great for hemorrhoids, though I sometimes did ignore that and sit on the toilet reading for hours at night instead of going back to bed only to jump up again.

During my 30/day period I was running to the bathroom a little more than once every hour, 24 hours a day. I was absolutely exhausted. I'd do what I could on the toilet for 5-10 minutes, then get up and try to go back to my couch or (at really bad times) just curl up on a towel on the bathroom floor. I had very bad tenesmus and rectal spasms so I don't think I could have "bought more time" by emptying more completely. Most of my BMs were just a lot of pain and a small amount of blood and mucus.

I can't believe how long I stubbornly stayed like that but I knew if I went to the hospital they would put me back on steroids and I wanted to wait for non-steroidal meds like 6MP and Cimzia to kick in. I landed in the ER and back on steroids eventually anyway.

I have gone 30x in a day I bet. It's like you constantly feel like you have to go and you have urgency but 90% of the time you will rush to the toilet and get no relief and perhaps pass a tiny bit of blood and mucous and nothing else. You have to go to the toilet or you will soil your clothes with blood. My family would always say "Hold it" but I could not hold it. I had cramps, pressure, pain and urgency. Sometimes nothing would come out but usually there was some blood. Every time I would stand up and zip my pants, 10 seconds later, I would have to go in again. Mine wasn't every hour, more like continuously for some hours of the day, then a few hour break, then 7 more trips in a row...
