Thought I would pass on an email my son sent to a fellow UC sufferer. It tells my son's remarkable story of stable health from terrible UC. 2 yrs of similar devastating experiences as everyone on here. Tried everything. My son (26 yrs old) got real extreme in his diet and use of LDN and in 2 months went from 140 lbs (6'2" tall) to 170 and stable. First 2 weeks on the diet was tough. Was tapering Pred. to 0 mg and uses 3 mg LDN. Not much difference the first 2 weeks as the pred was lowered but he hung in there...determined! He is very strict with his diet. He cheats some now but is still serious. Again this worked for him but everyone is different. My son has tremendous determination and belief in a positive outcome. this was amazing to watch as a mother.

So here are the MUST for beating ulcerative colitis but your brother should know it's not "ABC your healed!" with this sickness. It takes patience, constant attention to your plan, discipline and at the end a unique set up for his needs.
He should cut out COMPLETELY for at least 40 days ALL -
Starches - breads, corn, rice, quinoa, flour, wheat, etc…
- Basically these grains which we use as carbohydrates are not being digested (due to inflammation and improper immune system response). They are also feeding the overflow of bad bacteria in his gut. He must stop eating these starches all together with zero cheating for a minimum of 40 days. I still don't eat them and don't really plan on it in the near future.
Fruits - ZERO fruit except berries - strawberries, blackberries, blueberries, raspberries. Keeps these to a minimum as they are full of sugar and your sugar intake needs to be at MINIMUM. Meaning only these berries and small amounts at that are allowed which is a sugar.
SUGAR AND STARCHES ARE THE PROBLEM. IN ORDER TO BEAT THIS DISEASE WE MUST STOP FEEDING IT.
Diary - Only goat cheese, goats butter homemade goat's kefir/yogurt. I don't mess with much diary. We are lacking the lactase enzyme right now and it just messes with you. Buy a yogurmet-super easy to use and you can make some great yogurt
So what can he possibly eat and be satisfied everyday with without going crazy….
YOU MUST DRINK A GALLON OF WATER A DAY NO EXCUSES - this flushes your system of toxins and DYING bad bacteria. It's dying because your not feeding it. There are other ways to quickly and massively kill bad flora. That can be talked about if you would like. Google MMS - miracle mineral solution.

I strongly advise looking into LDA - Low Dose Allergen therapy and LDN Low Dose Naltroxone (don't quote me on spelling, this is an allergen medicine as well). I'm using LDN right now and did one shot of LDA. I believe these therapies will help keep me in remission in a more permanent basis and allow me to eat a more broad spectrum of food in the future like starches and diary. Basically go back to normal.
The secret to beating this is to replace starches with Animal meat/fats. I eat a lot of boned chicken (rotisserie chicken at store are great for you, you'll notice if you eat this with the skin and with a side of veggies with sea salt, goats butter, some garlic, Sauerkraut, YOU WILL FEEL BETTER AFTER EATING). Test it, right there after words you'll notice your symptoms rant that bad. Do it for 2/3 days and you'll notice you don't have to go to the bathroom even half as much.Lots of organize hi omega 3 eggs. My breakfast almost all the time is 5/6 eggs with a ton of veggies in them topped with avocado, Suarkraut, sprinkled with ground flaxseed.
Eat fermented foods with every meal. Don't waste your money on man made probiotics. I would venture to say almost all of them are useless compared to real probiotics found in Goats Kefir, yogurt, Fermented vegetable foods like Saurkraut. I eat Saurkraut by the pounds!! You can get some at a health food store. Best deal is at whole foods, get the organic SK it's 5 bucks for a big jug. I get 3 at a time and they last me about 10-14 days. SK are have lactobicils which will be live and enter your system unharmed by your immune system. Try to switch meats often, fish is GREAT because it has anti-inflammatory properties. You want to be eating/taking tons of things with anti-inflammatory properties. Foods high in Omega 3s are great for this. Avocado, raw sprouted almonds, flaxseed oil, fish oil. You also need to start working on adding more fiber. Lots of veggies will help with that. I steam (broccoli,beets,carrots, brussel sprouts, red peppers, etc… just about everyday. Raw Honey is almost a great snack at night. (1 tablespoon a day to start IF you need it)
Pray and say your purpose every morning and night. It doesn't matter if your not spiritual, give blessing to something because its a destresser and faith is a strong tool. You need to destress yourself, except yourself and find peace. Stress will shut down your immune system and indirectly cause you worse physical health. Get happy and you will get healthy!!!!

This is as condensed and to the point i can be about how to beat this. For a more detailed account of how to do things I would need to speak to him. I was 140 lbs 2 months ago. I've been holding 165-170 for about 2 weeks now. Off remicaid, off prednisone, 3-5 movements a day averaging. No blood, formed. When i get really struck i go down to 1-2 movements a day and even better. Life just gets in the way for me to be that strict. I'm already looking much better than when i shot with you Kat ;). I'll probably have to get new head shots in the next few months as much skin looks much better, i'm bigger and look older but i found some shots that should work. I now work out everyday and i'm booked international jobs with a chronic disease!!! Lets say i'm on a learning curve to completely cure this disease.
I hope this helps, this has to be taken very seriously and his life will be given back to him. I got mine back and working on getting to the point where there is no difference and i basically don't have a disease. I've been cheating much more with brownies, chips, and things during parties and getting away with it. Noticed bad effects but not half as bad as a few months ago. I also eat 3X more fruit that i used to. This will keep getting better and better overtime just know your triggers and how to heal yourself.
