Sounds like a pilonidial cyst, when using the pred or hydrocort mine flares up like a boil, then it used to go away.  Until a couple months ago when I had it looked at and it was infected and needed to be lanced at the dr office.  Now that it's lanced it's called a pilonidial abcess and it drains blood/pus on a somewhat infrequent basis.  GI and GP and Surgeon decided to get it removed when the pred/hydro cort was low.  These things create sinus cavities and can grow and burrow if not treated.  Some people live with them and just keep it clean and clean it up when it drains.

Nah , there was no bump or lump or wound with mine. Just like a skin irritation. Redness and that is all. It's all cleared up now, can't even tell anything was there at all. :)

Same with mine...no bump or lump...just red and irritated. I've never been on pred either so it couldn't be from that.

im 16 and im a guy and i have a fistula in my but crack area its been real raw lately so i told my mom my but crack was hurting she looked and there was a fistula hard to see. recomendations go to the docter imeadiatly

I have the same problem sometimes when I am not careful to keep my "crack" completely dry.  If I don't dry well enough after bathing, or if I sweat, my butt crack can get really sore for a few days until it clears back up.  Using moist wipes can do the same thing.  I just try to keep dry and also use baby powder in moderation.  I also have the same problem between my toes!

Is it ok to go swimming when it's still sore? I mean will the chlorine make it worse?

I have an open sore on my tailbone right where my butt crack starts at the top. Anybody know what that is or what's causing it? I can always push on it and get some blood and stinky stuff from it. Thanks.

I had this problem and used Canestan antifungal cream. This is a broad spectrum anti fungal cream. Certainly did the trick. apply two or three times a day. make sure you wash your bum crack every morning and dry it with medicated talc.

ok so I'm not the only one with this issue going on phew thought it was just me. I have been literally freaking out about this for so long. This rash, burn, sore whatever you want to call it starts for me after D issues. Normally it will clear up on its own with lots and I mean lots of Gold Bond Lotion, cool compress, but this last round has stayed around since thanksgiving. I'm going to my first GI doctor appointment tomorrow. I'm sure I won't walk away with a lot of answers probably more questions than ever, but at least I'm going. I went to the family doctor cause I had reached my boiling point with it. I have other stomach issues I have to address anyway so it will be a good appointment. My doctor thinks there is something internally going on that might be causing me external problems. He asked the usual questions about female issues and i haven't had any yeast infections or UTI's. This rash is annoying to say the least, it burns, hurts, and can even be difficult to sit or walk when it's really bothersome. Not only that it has really affected my sex life with hubby. I finally told him even showed him what was going on so he wouldn't think this was all in my head and he felt so bad. He's glad I'm going to the doctor. When he wants to have sex nine times out of ten I turn him down lately because of this issue and it's really starting to piss me off. My family doctor mentioned UC and possible chron's just from doing a general looksee and listening to my concerns. So who knows. I feel for those with this issue.  THe rash really was literrally the red flag that sent me to the doctor finally I figured it was my body's way of saying things are not normal and something is definately going on.

What is EVOO? I've been going to the bathroom all day n it burns and stings when I wipe- even using the Tucks wipes. Hellllp

I think they are talking about regular olive oil. I can't imagine it's too hard to apply, use a cotton swab or your finger. You could use a finger cot if you don't want to touch there, but it's your body and it's really not yucky, just wash your hands well after. I think I have had something like this in the past - it's like irritation or a crack in the crack? Sometimes these things happen from moisture in the area.

Mine turned out to be a yeast infection. Anti-fungal cream from the doctor should clear it up in a few days.

Just thought I'd throw in that I had some irritation in my crack for months. One day I had a brilliant idea: wipe in the other direction. It went away in a few days. And yay for thread necromancy.

tried that didn't work really serious discomfort hard to sit and wakes me up at night have a couple of pimples in the area on the cheeks as well nothing is helping never even had a pimple on my butt before crazy need help and suggestions

Go to the doctor. Mine was a yeast infection. It cleared up in a few days with some anti-fungal cream the doc prescribed.

Ok - So new to this site. Would really love some advice.

about 12 years ago I was having some MAJOR issues. Gastro did all the tests and was convinced I had Chrons. The blood work showed all the markers, but the sigmoidoscomy showed a clean colon. She basically told me it was a matter of times before it developed. Such fun news.

But.... (or butt LOL) When I have a serious stress episode, I get D and this time I got the sores you all are talking about. They are pimple like sores right at the top of my butt crack. Hurt like crazy! and Itch. I put some different creams on it, but now more confused. Do any of you get this type flare up when stress is through the roof?

I get the same pain.

It comes and goes every couple months to the point where it is difficult to sit with my legs up on a leg rest because the tailbone area hurts so bad.

I've never gotten an official diagnosis but have come to believe (at least over the past 2 to 3 years) that it is a reoccurring hemorrhoid.
