I may have to give up on Uceris :-(

I took my first dose on 5/22. It's now 5/31 with no improvement. Any intermittent improvement I've seen is, I think, due to the cortisone enemas.

I haven't felt this bad in a long time but oh man I really was hoping to never have to use pred again shakehead

My GI gets back from vacation on Tuesday and my guess is that he'll recommend prednisone. I probably would have already given up on Uceris if it weren't for the fact that pred will take a week to kick in for me.

Anyone out there have a really delayed response to Uceris? sad

Uceris did nothing for me. I still ended up in the hospital

If it's any help, I'm 9 days in and definitely improved. Haven't changed anything else (still doing Lialda and Canasa). Bleeding completely stopped. Morning BMs from 5 to 6 down to 2. Urgency still there but better. Was gassy for a while but that's improving. I have a very stubborn case - 6 years without remission - so this is encouraging. Having said that, I've had other things improve me at first and then seem to stop working before achieving complete remission, so let's see. Don't want to speak too soon.

Hey PalaceDan,

did you have more BM's before going down to 2? for me Uceris has made me more frequent, but firmed things up. i'm about 7 days in.

I was at about 6-8 a day probably, with blood. I have a vague feeling the Uceris may make me a bit more frequent than I would be otherwise. What I'm seeing though is no bleeding and a gradually thickening stool, so my assumption is that if I do the 8 week course and continue improving like this the inflammation may go, even if the Uceris upsets my stomach a little, and then I can stop the Uceris and use maintenance meds that'll keep things under control.

Unfortunately Uceris did nothing for me. I was on it for about 2 weeks as I wait for 6MP to kick in, but things only got worse while I was on it. Maybe I could have given it some more time, but I was just so tired of this flare. Now on a Pred taper instead which has put the brakes on the flare except for a small amount of blood.

Yeah sorry to say.. But I tried it for a little over 3 weeks before I was begging for pred :(
